Having easily ran through the Green Hill Zone and the Marble Zone, Sonic finds himself in the strange Spring Yard Zone. Though Sonic can use the springs to his advantage, many are placed as traps by Robotnik himself to try and thwart Sonic's progress...

Sonic has to face his greatest weakness in the Labyrinth Zone, a flooded underground cavern. Though his speed is greatly reduced underwater, Sonic knows a few shortcuts that even Robotnik is unaware of. Even with this advantage, Sonic has his most difficult time to date in the dangerous maze...
