Family of Pip White speaks out the front of coronial court

Pip White's mother Annah addresses the media out front of the colonial court. The two-year-old died at Orange hospital in 2022.

00:00We're standing outside the New South Wales State Coroner's Court as proud parents to

00:14our angel daughter Pippa Mae White.

00:18Pippa died just before her third birthday at Orange Base Hospital on the 13th of June

00:232022.

00:26We as Pippa's parents requested an inquest into her death, which was granted by the coroner.

00:32As a parent living in Australia, I would never have thought I could take my child to hospital

00:37with flu symptoms and then never return home with her again.

00:43We want to understand how this happened to our baby girl, Pippa, in the hope that it

00:47will lead to changes in the health system, especially rural health, to prevent this living

00:53nightmare from happening to anyone else.

00:55Unfortunately, our fairy tale doesn't have a happy ending.

01:00On Thursday the 9th of June 2022, our baby girl Pippa was at daycare, dancing and playing

01:06with her friends as she should.

01:09And by the Monday, she was dead.

01:14It's a hard pill to swallow, knowing that we as young parents have already lived out

01:18our happiest days on earth.

01:21For us, this is reality.

01:24We will never be whole as a family again.

01:29We as your parents promise to spend the rest of our lives advocating and pushing to prevent

01:33this from happening to any other child.
