00:00A group of private schools has confirmed that some schools have applied for additional fees for their matriculation.

00:08A group of recommendations has also been submitted to possible Education Secretaries.

00:52But it looks like he needs to triple his work after the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations Incorporated, or COCOPEA, has confirmed

01:01that some private schools, from basic to higher education, have applied for a tuition increase for their next entry.

01:22ranging from 3% to 9%, 12%.

01:27COCOPEA explained that it's long overdue to increase the tuition.

01:31And even if it increases, 70% of it will go to the teacher's salary and employees, while only 30% will go to the school's operation.

01:41Some of these schools, the last time that they applied for an increase was even pre-pandemic.

01:48So I think it was just really about time for them to adjust their fees.

01:53The Department of Education is still collecting information on the schools that applied for the tuition increase.

01:59While the Commission on Higher Education is not discussing this with their Commission on Bank.

02:04In the midst of the challenging education sector, COCOPEA submitted yesterday a shortlist of their recommendations to President Bombong Marcos

02:13to be the next Deputy Secretary in place of Vice President Sara Duterte.

02:18On the list are Jose Francisco Benitez, Senator Sonny Angara, Joyce Andaya, Gina Gono, and Wilmer Joseph Tria.

02:27COCOPEA is currently waiting for the President's response.
