Plot
The film tells the story of Giorgio, a young Italian soldier who is sent to a remote post, away from his lover Clara. He is lodged in the house of the colonel and becomes friends with the colonel and the local doctor. Among the inhabitants of the house is a strange young woman, Fosca, who is both unattractive and mad. Fosca becomes obsessed with Giorgio, and her passion for him worsens as he tries to maintain a distance.
