00:00Attack of Tadej Pogacar! Here he goes now! This is the moment! Vengergaard reacts straight away!
00:14Today, first of all, was this planned? To have the yellow jersey on your shoulders after just two days of racing?
00:20It's difficult, the yellow jersey is difficult to get out of.
00:50A sprinter goes better with fresh legs, that's for sure, but everybody's in the same boat, everybody's had a hard couple of days.
01:01I don't remember, 15 Tour de France, I don't remember ever having this fatigue on the third day.
01:08Normally we're like beginning of the second week type fatigue, but I think everyone's like that.
01:14It's not a secret, we're chasing one more stage win. Cavs will say two and three and four, but if we can get one more and take it outright, their record, it would be amazing.
01:27It's just hard on the head, it's just that you have to give, like never give up attitude. I know it's strange saying that, it's the first stage.
01:35I think as the images show yesterday, when you have an incredible group of people around you, it makes that so much easier.
01:43I was quiet, I was super quiet, and they just looked after me, made sure I got through.
02:03They showed that confidence and they showed that love, and we're one day in out of 21, I'm already grateful to have them here with me.
02:13Stage three is the longest of this tour, a whopping 230km between Piacenza and Turin.
02:25It should be a nailed on bunch sprint, although there is a risk of rain late in the day.
02:30Start OK guys, good luck. Let's go out there and smash it today. Come on guys.
02:40After two bruising stages, nobody was in the mood for a breakaway.
02:44And despite one half-hearted attempt from Unix Mobility, the peloton remained all together.
02:49The sprint win wasn't the only thing at stake though.
02:52If Remco Evenepoel finished three places ahead of Tadej Pogacar, he would take his first yellow jersey.
03:00Strategies no doubt being plotted as they cruised their way towards the intermediate sprint at kilometre 94.
03:08Nothing of a dress rehearsal for the fast men.
03:10A very, very fast move. Gemay kind of gets washed away a little bit.
03:14Brian Cockhart is looking for the sprint, also moving up.
03:18He looks like one of the team of DSM Fermanek PostNL.
03:21Here comes Fernando Gaviria. Abrahamsson makes a move on the other side.
03:25He is going to get some points, but who's going to take the intermediate sprint?
03:28It looks like Pedersen. Pedersen flies through to take the sprint.
03:38A few kilometres later, there was finally an attack.
03:41Perhaps Fabien Grelier had lost a bet. Either way, he went clear for Total Energies.
03:45The Frenchman's back on the tour for the first time since 2020 when he got into a couple of breakaways.
03:51No sweat for the sprint teams of course.
03:53They weren't going to have any trouble controlling a single rider.
03:59Fabien Grelier is now brought back into the peloton. The peloton is all together now.
04:06I think it will be a real mess with the GC teams and also the sprinter teams.
04:10Today everybody is fighting and I think it's really important to be in front.
04:16A massive sprint is a massive sprint.
04:18A lot of things can happen in a few seconds, even milliseconds.
04:22It's going to be very dangerous.
04:25Everyone wants to win and to win a step back, you have to take risks.
04:36Pedersen hits the deck from Soudal, quick step.
04:42Inside the final kilometre, I think the corner should be full.
04:48The corner should be full, no need to brake in the front.
04:53Everybody comes together and somehow they don't collide. Ten kilometres to go.
04:58All the roundabout should take on the right side.
05:02And another crash.
05:03I agree, it's a mirage. It's a mirage that comes back straight away.
05:06It didn't look like he hit anything.
05:08The front wheel for Van Der Poel.
05:12No panic guys. When we make the two right turns, we have eight kilometres straight.
05:16There we can come back together. We need to come back together.
05:21That was close.
05:27Two and a half kilometres to go.
05:29Lidl track with Tom Scoynes. On his wheel is Stuyven.
05:33Oh, big crash in the back. Massive crash.
05:47I don't see Cavendish. Is he in those wheels somewhere?
05:50Because there's a number of riders who have been washed away. I don't see Cavendish.
05:55Sam Bennett in fifth position in a good wheel there with Bruno Armeride.
05:58As they go.
06:00He grabs that turn now.
06:02Gerben Thiessen is ready to unleash the sprint.
06:06600 metres of racing to go now.
06:08Bennett is in a perfect position to try and win this stage.
06:11Thiessen is ready. Oliver Nasen starts to open up the sprint for the team of Decathlon.
06:17Jakobsen is there. Look at Jasper Stuyven.
06:20Stuyven now starts the acceleration.
06:22Gemay is there. Right on the wheel is Mats Pedersen.
06:25About to strike, but Arnaud Delis is there.
06:28Pedersen now goes for the stage.
06:30Gemay goes across and it is right in the centre.
06:33Mats Pedersen. Pedersen. Gemay.
06:36Biniyam Gemay.
06:38Biniyam Gemay wins his first ever stage of the Tour de France for Eritrea.
06:53I never dreamed to be part of Tour de France.
06:56But now, yeah, I can't believe it.
06:59To win in Tour de France, second year, in the big bunch sprint.
07:03Yeah, for me it was unbelievable.
07:06Bini. Bini. Bini.
07:08You're the best. You make history.
07:10You make fucking history.
07:12You know it for Africa and for Intermarché.
07:14You know it, Bini.
07:17A moment of history for Biniyam Gemay.
07:19The first Eritrean to win on the Tour.
07:21Another big day in Italy after his success on the Giro.
07:26It wasn't Evernepoel, but Carapaz who recovered yellow from Pagacar.
07:30A first for Ecuador.
07:31He has now worn the leader's jersey at all three Grand Tours.
07:36Abrahamsson remains in green,
07:38having taken nine points at the intermediate stage.
07:42Abrahamsson remains in green,
07:44having taken nine points at the intermediate sprint.
07:46Gemay up to second.
07:50Abrahamsson also remains on top in the mountains classification
07:53before tomorrow's first big test on the Col du Galibier.
07:58And Evernepoel is still our best young rider.
08:01He's 21 seconds ahead of Carlos Rodriguez.
08:11EVERNEPOEL
