00:00Good morning, it's a bit of a wetter and cloudy at start out there for many
00:03southern and central areas but there is some sunshine around and actually it
00:07will be a drier and calmer day for many northern areas of the UK. Best the
00:11sunshine first thing this morning across Northern Ireland, parts of Northern
00:15England as well and here it should stay fairly dry and bright through the day. A
00:19few showers still affecting western areas of Scotland but they'll be much
00:21lighter and there'll be more drier slots in between compared to yesterday. Now
00:26this rain across the south will retreat away to the south coast towards lunch
00:30time and into the early part of the afternoon allowing a bit more sunshine
00:34to develop across North Wales, parts of the Midlands and for Northern England
00:38and with lighter winds we'll feel a little bit warmer out there. Highs of 20-21
00:42degrees in these areas. A little bit muggy though across the south where we
00:46see that cloud and rain linger for much of the day. We could see temperatures
00:50into the high teens across eastern Scotland as well today. Through this
00:55evening though after a drier spell the rain will return to many central areas
00:59of England most likely lingering then across eastern areas of the UK by
01:04tomorrow morning and behind it we'll see a mix of clear skies and potentially
01:08some quite heavy showers as well. We've got fresher air moving in from the
01:12north and west overnight tonight so where the skies do stay clear
01:15temperatures could fall down into the single figures but for most of us with
01:19quite a lot of cloud around it'll still be a fairly mild start to the day. That
01:23does lead us into a fairly unsettled weekend. A mix of sunshine and showers
01:26for most of us. They'll be moving in from the north and west so still that fresh
01:30feel particularly through Saturday and potentially some more persistent rain
01:34affecting the east coast through the morning and these showers could be quite
01:38heavy as well and I think many of us are likely to see at least one or two
01:42showers so quite a lot of cloud around and a risk of those heavy showers.
01:45Temperatures below average for the time of year 18 or 19 degrees at best but for
01:50some of us into the low teens particularly where you see the most
01:54frequent showers across the north and west. It's a bit of an unsettled start to
01:58the weekend certainly through Saturday. We've still got low pressure in charge
02:02as we head into Sunday as well but it does push away to the north and east.
02:06That allows a bit more of a westerly wind, southwesterly wind in fact by the
02:10end of Sunday to develop so that means showers will be slightly more focused
02:13across parts of England and Wales rather than the north and west. You can find a
02:19full weekend forecast on our YouTube channel with Alex Burkill and I'll see
02:23you later, bye bye.
