00:00Brutal days are unfolding for the radical right in the European Parliament.
00:06The group of conservatives and reformists which includes Italy's Brothers of Italy and
00:12Poland's PIS has officially been established, increasing the numbers of its deputies to
00:1884.
00:20This makes it the third largest group in the European chamber.
00:24The political weight has moved in a sensitive way to the right and this will make the role
00:31of European conservatives particularly strategic because it is barycentric within the political
00:40realities of the centre-right and this will give us the possibility of being particularly
00:47influential.
00:48Another radical right group, Patriots for Europe, was founded on June 30 by Hungarian
00:55Prime Minister Viktor Orban alongside nationalist parties from Czechia and Austria.
01:02This group has the potential to attract additional members such as France's National Rally.
01:09Some of these parties have a very pragmatist approach.
01:12They need a group in order to have roles in the parliament, lead committees and receive
01:18money so eventually they might compromise.
01:23I still think it's more likely they would compromise in order to join Orban's new party
01:27rather than ECR.
01:30These moves could mean the end of identity and democracy, the group in which the Lega
01:36and National Rally MEPs currently sit.
01:40At the moment, ID lacks the necessary numbers to form a group.
01:45The day of truth will be July 8 when both Patriots for Europe and Identity and Democracy
01:51hold their constitutive meetings.
