00:00Hello, I'm Tony Durkin and welcome to the file counter here in Lytham.
00:05Still very early stages, but there are seven candidates standing in the constituency for this general election.
00:12That's Anne Aitken, Independent. Tom Calvert, Labour.
00:16Mark Jewell, Liberal Democrat.
00:19Cheryl Morrison for the Alliance for Democracy and Freedom.
00:22Andrew Snowden for the Conservatives.
00:24Brendan Wilkinson for the Green Party.
00:27And Brooke Winbury for Reform UK.
00:30And the big question is, can the Conservative stranglehold on Fylde,
00:36which has applied for as long as anyone can remember, be broken tonight?
00:41Massive swing towards Labour, of course, nationally.
00:44But the big question is, will that apply to Fylde as well?
00:50The ballot boxes are still coming in.
00:53Authentication underway.
00:56And the prediction is that it could be three or maybe a little later in the morning before the result is known.
01:04But last time, that Conservative dominance in the constituency,
01:11which has applied for so long, really came to the fore
01:14with Mark Mentes, the Conservative candidate, having a majority of more than 16,000.
01:23But Mr Mentes has moved on.
01:26He resigned from the party and then said he wouldn't be standing again after being involved in a scandal earlier this year.
01:34So all to play for, in a way, really.
01:37And let's just see if the national mood is reflected here in Fylde.
