00:22The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has commemorated today, on July 5th, the 213th anniversary
00:29of its independence.
00:30A military parade was held in the capital city of Caracas with the attendance of President
00:36Nicolás Maduro, who held a speech at the ceremony.
00:40213 years later, remembering the young SimĂłn BolĂvar, member of the Patriotic Council,
00:50we can state, Miranda, CristĂłbal, BolĂvar, we have accomplished, we have preserved the
00:58most valuable good that the liberators and the Comandante Chávez had left to us, independence.
01:08We are a free, sovereign, and independent homeland that is, moreover, in peace.
01:19Today is also the day of the national Bolivarian armed forces, thus the parade had a military
01:25character or, better said, a civic-military character with participation of armed forces
01:31and representatives of the civil society.
01:35Here, President Maduro also commented on the historic and future role of the armed forces
01:40of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
01:45These armed forces of the liberators were born as the most powerful armed forces ever
01:52existed and has crushed the imperial, colonialist, and genocidal military that had dominated
02:02our America for 300 years.
02:05This is the anti-colonialist national Bolivarian armed forces.
02:13And just weeks ahead of the presidential elections, which are due to take place on July 28, the
02:19President also commented on the future of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its
02:24basic foundational political positions.
02:31This baton of the Commander-in-Chief of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces, which I
02:36have carried with patriotism, bravery, defending the truth of our country, will continue to
02:44be in good hands in the coming years.
02:47This baton of command will never fall into the hands of an oligarch, a puppet, a traitor.
02:56I swear, never.
03:00On the day of independence and the armed forces, Venezuela displayed unity between the presidency,
03:06the armed forces, and the people, as well as a firm stance against any form of foreign
03:11intervention into the country.
