Carlos Alcaraz avance.

00:00It's always great to qualify to the quarterfinals, I'm feeling great on the court, I think I'm
00:10getting better and better every match that I'm playing, feeling really comfortable on
00:16the court, hitting good points, good shots, so hopefully keep going.
00:28In every match so far you have these little moments of concentration problems, what happens
00:35to you in those moments and how do you get yourself out in the key moments of the match?
00:41I stayed at a really high level of focus during the whole match, probably in the first set
00:49it was kind of difficult for me, in the second game, low of 30 for me, a few points played
01:01with a few mistakes from my side, and then he broke my serve and I think he started to
01:07play better and better, there was a certain point that I couldn't find my good read on
01:14the serve, I felt like he was reading my serve, he was reading my shots very, very
01:21well in every point that we were playing, so it was difficult for me to find the solution
01:27in that moment, but tennis is like this, I had 40-0 down in the fourth set and a few
01:36serves that I did pretty well and saved that game and I increased my tennis, I increased
01:46my intensity and got the win at the end, but I'm really happy that it didn't affect me
01:53at all in the third set and the problems that I had in the fourth set and I stayed really
01:58strong mentally.
02:00Hey Carlos, well done, so you're going to play on Tuesday, there's another big game
02:06on Tuesday as I'm sure you know, does it get into your head at all, you talked the other
02:14day about watching the game here and there and rushing into it, is it hard at all to
02:20concentrate and do you have any relationships with the Spanish players or any particular
02:25ones that you follow or like?
02:28Well, the first thing I'm supporting is Spain because it's Spain, but I have a really good
02:37relationship with a few players of the team, particularly with Alvaro Morata, he's a really
02:46good friend and I support them, as I said, every four years, so right now it's time to
02:57support them, as I know that they support me when I'm playing matches or I'm playing
03:04tournaments, so it's my turn, so hopefully on Tuesday, we are not going to play at the
03:13same time, but let's see, hopefully I will be able to see a little bit from the match.
03:22Hi Carlos, Villugo today, he's from France, you are from Spain, is that a good argument
03:28going into Tuesday?
03:29Well, hopefully they are going to get the same results as me today, yeah, I didn't think
03:37about it until now, but yeah, I won in the part, in the tennis part, so hopefully the
03:46Spanish team are going to win the football part.
03:49Hi Carlos, congratulations.
03:55Carlos, when is the last time that you won such a big point from sitting down on your
03:59backside on the baseline and how did you manage to win that point because you must have had
04:05a magic carpet?
04:07Well, the last time I remember that I fell down and recovered and got the point at the
04:17end, it was against Yannick Schneider in the US Open, yeah, I remember that I catch it,
04:25that I fall down and then recovery and make a passing shot, so I think that's the last
04:30time that I remember that I got a point like this one, so as I said on the court, that's
04:38myself fighting every ball, I think that I can reach every ball, it doesn't matter if
04:44the shot the opponent hit it or the place that I'm on the court, I'm just thinking that
04:52I'm going to get it, I'm going to hit another good shot or a passing shot and believing
05:00that I'm going to get the point, so that's myself and that's what I'm thinking about
05:07running side to side.
05:09Emma Raducanu is playing such an important match for her career and again is facing a
05:15lot of noise off court with a row about her coming out of the mixed doubles with Andy
05:19Murray, I just wonder, do you sympathise with someone playing in their home slam and having
05:24to deal with so much happening off the court when they're playing such a big match?
05:28Shall I say again?
05:29Emma Raducanu is facing a lot of off-court noise about her pulling out of the mixed doubles
05:36with Andy Murray, do you sympathise with her playing in front of her home crowd and having
05:42to deal with all this conversation and noise in the media and off the court?
05:49Well, it is a difficult situation, I'm not going to lie, obviously, she said she was
05:57going to play mixed doubles against Andy Murray, his last Wimbledon of his career,
06:04but obviously, she's young, I'm sure that she didn't want to pull out from the mixed
06:12doubles, so I think she had her reasons to do it, I guess physical problems, but I don't
06:26know, she's facing the fourth round of a Grand Slam at Wimbledon, I think it is special for her
06:37playing here in England, so I'm sure that a lot of players who are in her position could do the
06:49same thing as she, but obviously, knowing that it is his last Wimbledon of Andy Murray, it is
06:56difficult to deal with.
07:02Congratulations on your win today, I thought at the end of the fourth set you used the crowd
07:08really well, how helpful were the crowd today?
07:12Well, I've said it many times, the crowd is a really important part for me, obviously when
07:20they are not cheering you up, you have to forget it and think about your tennis or think about
07:32yourself, but having the crowd supporting you every time is really helpful to put your best
07:39tennis, if there are difficult moments on the mats, they help you a lot to push you up and try
07:50not to miss a lot of games, so after that third set, that they didn't stop supporting me in the
08:04fourth one, I thought that I have to fight, I have to give them the good mats, the good points,
08:14and it was a really helpful support.
08:26You've not always had your best results indoors at the end of the season, I'm just wondering,
08:31you've had to play on centre court indoors under the roof, do you prefer playing outdoors,
08:37like how does it compare playing under the roof on centre?
08:41Well, I'm not used to playing on indoor, I'm not going to lie, but I don't consider myself a bad
08:48player on indoor, I just think that a lot of players are better than me, but honestly I would
08:59prefer to play outdoors, that's obvious, but if the weather is okay, if it's the sun out,
09:08not windy, the perfect conditions, but if we have to play outdoor or indoor I have to adapt my game
09:18with the conditions that it is, but if I have to choose, I would choose outdoor.
09:29Thanks, thank you.
