00:00Today is the 26th of June, which is a day to support the victims of torture, violence, abuse and humiliation.
00:26Something more about the day itself and what is the main message that it carries this day.
00:31This morning, my guest today is Fatmire Aydari, a peace co-worker in the children's embassy in Megesh.
00:37Good morning and welcome to the morning show.
00:39Good morning and thank you for your presence, Neli.
00:45I remind you that today is International Day, World Day to Support the Victims of Torture.
00:52What is the main message that it carries this day?
00:57The importance of marking such international days is great.
01:02Because we pay tribute to the victims once again.
01:06Torture can be in different forms.
01:10Sometimes it is visible, sometimes it is invisible.
01:13But the damage done to the victims is great.
01:16That is why it is important for us as a society to see and think about those who are silent.
01:24Because the whole purpose of torture is to silence the victims.
01:32So let's turn around and see how we can support them.
01:39Here I ask you, in addition to providing support for this day,
01:46what are the other ways to support the victims and prevent the same violence?
01:52The most important thing is prevention.
01:55However, if it has already happened,
01:58I would first say that it is important to rehabilitate the victims of torture and the institutions of the system.
02:10However, we as citizens, as civil organizations, or as ordinary citizens,
02:15we have an important role.
02:19As I said, if the purpose of the perpetrator of torture is to silence a certain victim,
02:25or a community, or a community,
02:28ours is to raise awareness, to talk openly about it,
02:34and to find ways to improve the policies regarding this issue,
02:43in order to prevent these victims.
02:47You mentioned prevention.
02:50With prevention, we can link it to peaceful education in some way.
02:54In some way, peaceful education is linked to this topic.
02:59Can you explain what exactly is meant by peaceful education?
03:04Peaceful education is a broad term that includes several elements,
03:11and the goal is to transform the conflicts in a peaceful way.
03:18It is also about raising empathy,
03:22it is about caring for each other,
03:26with the goal of creating a society in which everyone would like to live,
03:31and we will live better.
03:33Do we have peaceful education in our schools?
03:37What is the experience like so far, if you are studying this type of education?
03:42Peaceful education is being carried out,
03:46within the framework of our program,
03:49it is already in its 14th year of implementation,
03:55and it has been expanded to several schools.
04:00The results are not immediate,
04:06they are long-term,
04:08we need to work hard,
04:10we need to be dedicated,
04:12by all the actors,
04:14by the students, by the teachers,
04:16by us as a society,
04:18in order to have better results.
04:20How is peaceful education implemented in the students' education?
04:28Is it used in the classroom?
04:32Depending on how the teachers see it to be more productive and useful,
04:42they can implement it in the classroom,
04:47in the form of workshops,
04:50which use the methodology of peaceful education,
04:54or in the form of facultative activities.
04:57The main focus is to have a common day,
05:04the 21st of September,
05:06the International Peace Day.
05:09How much do you think it would make a difference,
05:14if it were to become a more durable subject?
05:21As a society,
05:23it is not compulsory,
05:25it is not imposed,
05:27it is voluntary,
05:29and the whole program is based on values,
05:33which are taught,
05:35which of the teachers believes in positive change,
05:40wants to make a better climate,
05:43wants to improve the quality of life,
05:47wants to make a positive change,
05:49wants to make a better climate for work,
05:51whether in the classroom,
05:53in the school,
05:55or in the society,
05:57it is included in the program.
05:59There are, I would say,
06:01only in these 14 years,
06:03there have been a large number of teachers,
06:05teachers from all over the country,
06:07implementing activities,
06:09implementing workshops,
06:11or sometimes it happens only in the form of conversation,
06:15because we often forget to ask each other,
06:20whether this is a teacher-student,
06:22yes, it is important what they transfer to us as a learning,
06:28but the element of how empathetic we will be,
06:34how much we care for each other,
06:37how responsible we are for what we do,
06:42whether it is in the classroom,
06:44whether it is in the society,
06:46or in the environment.
06:50At the very end,
06:52I would like to mention something more about the modules
06:54that have been announced by your side,
06:56the modules for peace education
06:58at the Kainos Middle School.
07:01Yes, the peace education modules
07:04were promoted two weeks ago,
07:06and are set up by the Ministry of Education
07:09and the Office for Developmental Education
07:12since March this year.
07:14The goal was to provide a form
07:18that is needed within the framework of the institutions,
07:22of the system,
07:24of this work,
07:26which is already doing peace education.
07:29They are available on these pages,
07:32they are also available to us,
07:34in electronic and printed form,
07:37including topics that are already being worked on,
07:41such as mediation, non-violent communication,
07:45violence, non-violence.
07:48Every teacher,
07:51professor,
07:53who wants to learn more,
07:56can freely open them.
07:58It is not more to learn,
08:01but to think about how this can be solved.
08:06Because the problems are here.
08:09Our task is to find creative ways
08:12to eliminate them.
08:14In a good way to solve the problem itself,
08:16as you said.
08:18Thank you very much for inviting us here
08:20and for giving us the opportunity
08:22to say something more about this day to our viewers.
08:24Thank you.
08:26I hope you listened carefully.
08:28In this regard,
08:30this day is really important.
08:32International Day is important.
08:34It is the 26th of June.
08:36It is a day to support the victims of torture,
08:39humiliating treatment,
08:41and, of course,
08:43humiliating treatment of the victims themselves.
