00:00The 2028 target is to make the first cable car operational in the Philippines, according to the Department of Transportation.
00:07As for the projects to reduce the problem of flooding, more than Php 200 billion is estimated, according to the DPWH.
00:16Saksi, C.E.J. Gomez.
00:22Flooding from the side of the mountain in Barangay Nula Union, Maitum, Sarangani this afternoon.
00:28The flood reached the road and several houses.
00:32But the motorists reached Datu Abdulla Sanki Maguindanao, Dalsur after it flooded the highway last night.
00:40At the same time, in Metro Manila, some places were flooded in Taft Avenue and Espana Boulevard due to thunderstorms.
00:46Such incidents in many places in the country are what the Department of Public Works and Highways, or DPWH, wants to solve.
00:54At the Build Better More Infrastructure Forum here in New Clark City, Tarlac, DPWH gave an estimated Php 240 billion budget
01:03for the repair of 18 major river basins in the country to reduce flooding.
01:11This year, we have around Php 240 billion flood control projects spread across the country.
01:18According to the DPWH, by May 2024, there will be more than Php 5,000 flood control projects completed since July 2022.
01:28Many are principal or major river basins.
01:31Major river basins are those with the biggest catchment area.
01:35We are identifying flood control projects based on master plans done across major river basins.
01:44For example, flood risk management in Cagayan River and Cagayan de Oro, Pasig Marikina River Channel Improvement Project,
01:51and the implementation of Integrated Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Measures in low-lying areas in Pampanga Bay.
01:59In local rivers, LGUs have been hit.
02:02In total, almost 200 infrastructure flagship programs are rolling now.
02:08Most will have a big chance to finish in the term of the President due to the stronger fund sourcing and monitoring system.
02:15The big difference now is that all the Cabinet members and the President are periodically involved even in monitoring,
02:25ensuring that we are not delayed in the implementation.
02:31According to NEDA, the private sector is expected to return to pre-pandemic level
02:37for Philippine infrastructure in the next year.
02:40Aside from that, the first cable car in the Philippines,
02:44which according to the Department of Transportation, is targeted to be operational in 2028.
02:49Antipolo will connect it to the MRT4 station in Taytay, Rizal,
02:53which is connected to places going to Ortigas and EDSA.
02:57MRT4 is EDSA, Ortigas Avenue, Ortigas Extension, down Manila East Road.
03:03We know that Antipolo is very dense, lots of residents, lots of economic activity.
03:08The pre-feasibility study is already done, although more detailed study is needed to know how much the project will go through the bidding.
03:16The project appears viable, we just need to do further studies.
03:21It's not just about how much, it's also the terrain, the landscape.
