00:00Expansion for a national law firm, investment for Cornish internet provider
00:04and a new all-day brunch venue featuring today's business briefing.
00:12I'm Stephen Fowler. I'm Ben Butler. I believe first things first, Ben, you've got some
00:17news of an investment in Southwest. Yes, so we've got a Cornwall based internet
00:21provider Wildernet, which is backed by Gresham House, receiving a 35 million
00:26pounds investment to accelerate its broadband rollout, mainly to like
00:31underserved rural areas in the county and the UK Infrastructure Bank has
00:35committed the investment into Wildernet and the investment is said to allow the
00:40business to support economic growth and productivity and the rollout is aiming
00:45to provide up to a further 20,000 homes and businesses with significantly faster
00:51broadband connection, so a big investment there. Yeah, always good to see
00:56underserved communities getting that access to broadband, really
01:00important. Now we know at Insider that our law firm stories are always popular with
01:05the readers, so in Yorkshire you'll be pleased to see today that we've got the
01:09news that Mills and Reeve, the national law firm, is expanding its presence. They
01:14have agreed to take 10,200 square foot at one city square from the start of
01:20October. Big space there. Yeah, so I think it's going to double the size of their
01:24presence there, they're moving from the fourth floor to the second floor.
01:27They've said that's come after a period of growth with headcount
01:32growing by about 25% and hopefully the move will also allow them to keep
01:36recruiting, so yeah, great to see some expansion there. Fantastic. Yeah, and
01:41sticking with professional services in South Yorkshire, we've got accountancy
01:45from Shorts, which has acquired counterpart Hewson and Howson in South
01:49Yorkshire. So that acquired firm was founded about 30 years ago, specialises
01:55in providing support to owner-managed businesses. The deal has allowed the two
01:59founders, Ian Hewson and Andrew Howson, to retire and the rest of the employees
02:04will all transfer over to Shorts, so great outcome there. Shorts itself is
02:09about, well, it was founded in 1890 and employs about 130 people across its
02:13offices in Sheffield and Chesterfield, so yeah, great to see them growing with an
02:17acquisition. Yeah, and a real historic firm there as well, more than 100 years old.
02:21Last thing, I believe you've got some restaurant news for us today. Yes, so we've got a
02:25restaurant brand that's set to expand with the opening of a 100-cover venue at
02:30a retail and residential development, Ambarista in Cardiff. Parkside was
02:35originally founded by Sophie Pascoe and her mother in 2021. Originally it was
02:40located at Heath Park, where it attracted a loyal following for serving coffee and
02:44sweet treats, and now they're to open a second all-day brunch venue in Cardiff's
02:50Lakeside, which signifies a big step up for the brand. And Parkside and
02:55Lakeside will offer all-day dining, catering for up to 60 covers inside, and
02:59then there's an additional 40 covers that will be available on a covered
03:02heated terrace. So it's opening on Wednesday, this coming Wednesday.
03:07Walking's welcome and booking's also available on its website, so if you'd
03:12like to try that out. Yeah, give that a visit. Absolutely. Well, if you're
