Liverpool Council has responded to mounting criticism over the proposed parking scheme near Everton's new stadium. More than 10,000 people have signed a petition calling on the council to make changes before the scheme goes live.

00:00Liverpool councils responded to mounting criticism over the proposed parking scheme near Everton's new stadium since it was announced businesses and residents have reacted angrily to proposals for an experimental traffic regulation order that would create a parking zone in the area within a 30 minute walk of Everton Stadium.
00:19More than 10,000 people have signed a petition calling on the council to make changes to the scheme.
00:24The local authorities said it's aware of concerns being raised by traders and will listen to their points of view.
00:29The zone encompasses the surrounding 10 streets district, into the city centre and up to Great Homer Street in Everton.
00:35It's faced intense opposition with firms around Bramley Moor Dock claiming it could kill their business.
00:40A Liverpool City Council spokesperson said the measures are subject to further public consultation.
00:46The local authorities set up a survey to have your say on the proposals until August this year.
00:50They also said although it states the number of permits per business will be set at 10, we will consider any requests for more permits on a case by case basis.
