Family of alleged murder victim upset as Marco Anthony Yandle released from custody

A 20-year-old Adelaide man who helped his father to cover up the death of missing man Steven Murphy has been released from custody. Marco Anthony Yandle walked out of the Supreme Court this morning after an emotionally charges sentencing.

00:44The Supreme Court judge said she accepts the 20-year-old's behaviour wasn't consistent
00:49with his kind and respectful character, but at the same time acknowledged the pain of
00:54Mr Murphy's family.
00:56The consequences of that night were devastating.
00:59The court heard Mr Murphy had, until two weeks before, been living with his partner
01:03and two children close to the Yandell property in Adelaide's north, but was sleeping rough
01:08until he intruded on the Yandell's shed.
01:12Yandell was sentenced to a non-parole period of one year and a month, but since he'd already
01:16spent that time in custody, he was released on the condition of a two-year good behaviour
01:21bond.
01:22Very relieved.
01:23It's been a long time.
01:24He's very regretful what happened and he wants to now get on with his life.
01:28He understands that he's caused great pain to the family of the victim.
01:32Mr Murphy's family leaving court visibly angry and upset.
