00:00How do you see the future of the G7?
00:05As has been mentioned, there are some signs of significant growth.
00:10It is a part of the country that is growing more than the rest,
00:13obviously there is still a gap to be covered,
00:15but we are here as the B7, as business representatives,
00:20we are here with the ministers of the G7 of Commerce,
00:24we are also here with other ministers of very important countries,
00:28also to testify that a free trade is also a way to grow.
00:34This is a country that has 40% of its growth in exports,
00:39even the midday is growing from this point of view,
00:42so we are here to say that there are opportunities
00:45and also the attention to Africa can become a moment of development
00:50and obviously Calabria and the midday pose as the right bridge,
00:56the best bridge to make this operation.
00:58Here we have said that in our opinion it is necessary to find a balance
01:03between economic security on the one hand and keeping the markets open.
01:09What does it mean? It means that today we live in a situation
01:11in which it is clear that, for example, we depend too much on China
01:15for some raw materials, we depend too much on China for photovoltaic panels,
01:20so it is necessary to pay attention to these points,
01:25to evaluate the investments that enter Italy and Europe,
01:31that is, it is necessary to protect some important aspects
01:35and above all to diversify the sources of supply of raw materials.
01:39But on the other hand, we must not even exaggerate in this,
01:43so we say, for example, we check, but only on some aspects
01:48and on other aspects we leave the markets free.
01:51Of course, we need an equitable trade, not a trade where subsidized companies
01:58can make unfair competition to other companies,
02:02but we must not even make the idea prevail that we close everything,
02:06that we continue to increase taxes, that we continue to put protectionism,
02:09because this, and it has been said very clearly here,
02:12would lead to a weakening of the economy
02:15and would probably hit the weakest areas,
02:18so it is not what is needed in Italy, it is not what is needed in South Italy,
02:22it is certainly not what is needed, for example, in Africa.
