00:00The strongest link between the Philippines and the Filipinos is President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:11where he himself stood as the chief salesman to attract more foreign investors to the country.
00:19Let's take a look at the center of the news, Alan Francisco.
00:23The President of the Philippines is the so-called salesman and chief promoter of our country.
00:31It was the President's initiative to invite and explain to foreign investors why they should come to the Philippines.
00:40And this is what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. does whenever he has a state and working visit.
00:47Aside from that, through him as a state leader, the relationship between the Philippines and other countries became stronger.
00:55This year, President Marcos' last trip so far was to Singapore
01:01where he gave an amazing speech at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Shangri-La Dialogue.
01:08This is the first time for a President of the Philippines to give a speech at a prestigious event.
01:16Here, President Marcos once again emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the international community.
01:26The President once again advocated for the protection of the sovereignty of the country in the face of the issue in the West Philippine Sea.
01:33We have on our side the 1982 UNCLOS and the binding 2016 Arbitral Award which affirms what is ours by legal right.
01:43In this solid footing and through our clear moral ascendancy, we find the strength to do whatever it takes to protect our sovereign home
01:51to the last square inch to the last square millimeter.
01:56The life-giving waters of the West Philippine Sea flow in the blood of every Filipino.
02:02We cannot allow anyone to detach it from the totality of the maritime domain that renders our nation whole.
02:13As President, I have sworn to this solemn commitment from the very first day that I took office.
02:25I do not intend to yield. Filipinos do not yield.
02:29Before Singapore, President Marcos first came to Brunei where he met Sultan Hassanal Bolquia
02:37and they discussed the four decades of bilateral ties.
02:41The Philippines and Brunei agreed on three memorandums of understanding to assist in tourism,
02:47the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers,
02:53and maritime cooperation.
02:55A letter of intent to agricultural cooperation was also passed.
02:59The strengthening of bilateral ties and investment, market access, and technology innovations
03:07helped strengthen the business sectors of the two countries.
03:09President Marcos also helped strengthen the energy sector in Brunei
03:13from the officials of their oil and gas companies.
03:17We assure Bruneian businessmen that the Philippine government is committed
03:21to encourage foreign investors and players in the renewable sector
03:25and in the process continue to boost our country's trajectory
03:29in economic, sustainable, and inclusive growth.
03:32The bilateral summit was held by President Marcos in Washington, D.C.
03:36with Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and U.S. President Joe Biden.

03:48During our meeting, we reaffirmed our commitment to a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
03:54We are guided by our shared values of democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and gender equality.
04:01I also had a bilateral meeting with President Biden
04:04wherein we reaffirmed our commitment to the long-standing Philippines-U.S. alliance.

04:12First, he visited Germany, where he helped German Chancellor Olaf Scholz
04:17as well as other business leaders in the country.
04:21President Marcos also received four billion U.S. dollars in investment pledges.
04:26We are grateful for the interest of German companies
04:29to support the Philippines' commitment to sustainability and climate resiliency
04:34through the renewable energy investments that we received
04:37and were accounted as the top sector from Germany in 2023.
04:44From Germany, the President went directly to the Czech Republic for a state visit.

05:15for its support to the Philippines on the issue of the West Philippine Sea.
05:19I conveyed to Australian legislators the important role of both our countries
05:23as proponents of the rules-based international order
05:26and its significance amidst the present complexities in global geopolitics.
05:32As democratic maritime nations,
05:34access to the global commons such as the oceans and the seas
05:38must be ensured and safeguarded.
05:41The President also traveled to Vietnam for a state visit
05:44where he helped President Vo Van Tung.

05:52The researchers, scientists, and farmers
06:00went to Iri to develop some of the new varieties,
06:07to develop some of the new techniques in the cultivation of rice.
06:13So that will continue, but more.
06:17In terms of fisheries,
06:19what we talked about was how to treat our fisheries
06:26because sometimes there are Vietnamese fishermen
06:30who go to the Philippine waters and vice versa,
06:35how to handle them so that they won't get into trouble.
06:38Just to treat them humanely and to send them back to their respective countries.
06:44In these visits by President Marcos abroad,
06:47he said that he will never forget Makihalubilo
06:49and how the Filipinos work or live there.
06:53We are very proud and happy to meet our President
06:58and I hope that he will continue his good deeds.
07:02All the infrastructure must be improved
07:04so that not only Manila, but the whole Philippines.
07:07Every time President Marcos visits a foreign country,
07:10he does not only bring his own,
07:12but every Filipino, the whole Philippines.
07:16So let us join our prayers
07:18for the success of his efforts overseas.
