00:13gave his advice. This is for the athletes who did not make it to the tournament.

00:18After the successful end of the 2024 Palarong Pambansa in Queen City of the South, Cebu City,

00:32several athletes won the medal following their failure in various sports events.

00:42According to Cebu City acting vice mayor and former PBE star, Dondon Ontiveros,

00:48it is more important for an athlete to learn from every tournament.

00:53In every setback, there's always opportunity for a great comeback.

00:58Hopefully, what you've learned here, the experience that you gained,

01:01will make you a better person, will make you a better athlete, and hopefully be a leader in the future.

01:06Dondon shared his experience when he joined the Palarong Pambansa in 1997.

01:12I was once an athlete of Palarong Pambansa in 1997 when I represented Churchill Visayas.

01:18And now I'm part of the organizing committee.

01:20It's really fulfilling that I was part of last year's executive member push for this to happen in Cebu City.

01:28For acting mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia,

01:31it's important for student-athletes to have platforms to showcase their talents when it comes to sports.

01:39All work and no play makes Jack or Juan a dull boy.

01:43So, this is actually an avenue for our students to unwind,

01:47to focus on something else rather than their studies.

01:50And of course, it builds their own character.

01:53Aside from building character, it can also build relationships and friendships among their fellow players.

02:01Meanwhile, the next Palarong Pambansa will be held in Ilocos Norte,

02:06while in Agusan, Del Sur, Palarong Pambansa will be held in 2026.
