00:00It's that time to talk about the tropics and so far the season by the
00:05numbers, we've seen three named storms and the historical average day to see
00:10the first three named storms would be into early august. So we are running a
00:14little bit ahead of schedule, especially with regards to the first
00:17hurricane. Of course, we talked about powerful hurricane barrel again earlier
00:22on in the month and the typical again, a historical date for the first
00:27hurricane is not until the 11th of august. With that said, boy, is it quiet
00:31right now. Again, tropical waves here have little if any thunderstorms
00:35associated or tied with them. There's a lot of dry air right now going on
00:40throughout the open atlantic. It's hiding with some saharan dust coming
00:43off the coast of africa and that's even going to lead to some hazy skies
00:47into Bermuda as we go down the road. But tropical development here is not
00:51expected due to all the dry air and also the wind shear. The winds higher
00:56up in the atmosphere are working their way west to east as again, these
01:00tropical waves move east to west, so they are not going to be conducive for
01:05any organization. They will stay weak, but the water is warm here and again
01:09with the lesson is the lessening of the wind shear later on the season that has
01:13us concerned about a supercharged hurricane season, excuse me, with above
01:18the historical average amount of named storms, hurricanes and major
01:22hurricanes. In fact, we're looking at 20 to 25 named storms and that will
01:27put us in some very rare territory here. If in fact you were to look back
01:31through time, 25 named storms in itself will be the third most active atlantic
01:38hurricane seasons here on record. You think back to the very busy seasons of
01:432005 as well as 2020 when we saw 30 named storms.
