00:00The increase of the life expectancy and therefore of the elderly population puts the country system
00:09in front of a growing need for prevention, health and assistance services.
00:14The non-edition of the General States of Long-Term Care, Long Term Care 9, was dedicated to these themes,
00:20the annual meeting of Italia Longeva, which brings together actors who, at various levels,
00:25take care of scheduling and managing the assistance to the elderly.
00:28Particularly central in terms of prevention is the vaccination coverage.
00:33At the moment, the vaccination calendar includes, in all Italian regions,
00:39the anti-influenza seasonal vaccination, the pneumococcal vaccination and the Zoster vaccination,
00:50in addition to the annual call for COVID-19.
00:54Vaccinations are recommended to the elderly and also to the so-called fragile,
01:00that is, to those categories of chronic diseases that can be more than 65 years old, but even less,
01:09which are at particular risk of contracting those diseases and suffering the worst damage.
01:17A recommended vaccination coverage is able to offer benefits not only in terms of health,
01:22but also from a socio-economic point of view.
01:25The achievement of minimum or optimal vaccination coverage would allow the system
01:34lower social costs for about 3 billion and an income of resources in terms of tax revenue
01:42of just over 500 million euros and a recovery of lost value of production,
01:48therefore of products in the garden, of about 10 billion.
01:52The President of Citi, who expressed her ambition for the future,
01:55was also present at the two-day Longeva in Italy.
01:58I believe that the ambition is to increase vaccination coverage.
02:03There are ways, the problem is complex, but the solutions are simple, if we want.
02:12It is enough to put them together and it is enough that there is an absolute synergy
02:17between political decision-makers, scientific societies, health professionals and the population.
