00:00Good afternoon to all of us.
00:02We have an update on the storm we are watching, Sea Carina,
00:05which is even stronger and is now in the Tropical Storm category
00:09and has an international name, Gai Mi.
00:12This is a Korean word that means a storm or a storm.
00:17We were able to see this Sea Carina storm
00:20at a distance of 630 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.
00:24There is a strong gust of wind reaching 65 kilometers per hour
00:28near its center and a gust of wind reaching 80 kilometers per hour.
00:33It continues to move north-westward at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
00:39And if we can see from our satellite imagery,
00:42it is still in the ocean and is still far from our Philippine landmass,
00:46so it still has no direct effect on any part of our country.
00:51Meanwhile, earlier this morning or earlier at 9 in the morning,
00:55the area of responsibility for this former Sea Carina storm came out.
01:00At present, it is at a distance of 545 kilometers east of Iba, Zambales.
01:06Its strong gust of wind reaches 55 kilometers per hour near its center
01:12and a gust of wind reaches 70 kilometers per hour.
01:16It continues to move north-westward at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.
01:22This former Sea Carina storm continues to enhance the southwest monsoon
01:30that will continue to fall tonight with heavy rains,
01:34landslides and landslides here in the area of Palawan, Zambales, Bataan,
01:39as well as here in Occidental Mindoro, Antique and Negros Occidental.
01:44Double caution in the areas I mentioned
01:47because it is still possible for them to experience strong rains
01:51because of this enhancement in the southwest monsoon or Habagat.
01:55But here in Metro Manila, as well as in other parts of our country,
01:59tonight we are expecting isolated cases of rain only.
02:05Here is our latest track on the Sea Carina storm we are monitoring.
02:10It continues to move north-westward and its movement will continue to slow down.
02:16As we can see, it will remain offshore or far from our Philippine landmass for the next five days.
02:23In terms of intensity, we can see that by Monday,
02:28the Sea Carina storm is already in the severe tropical storm category
02:33and by Tuesday, it is already in the typhoon category.
02:37That is why we did not avoid the possibility of rapid intensification
02:41because in a short period of time, it will be stronger and will reach the typhoon category by Tuesday.
02:49Here is our forecast location on the Sea Carina storm we are monitoring
02:54that in the next 24 hours, it will be 470 kilometers away from Casiguran, Aurora.
03:01In the next 48 hours or by Monday, it will be 400 kilometers away from Aparikagayan
03:06and by Tuesday, it will be 370 kilometers away from Itbayat, Batanes.
03:12What do we expect when it comes to heavy rainfall or the intensity of the storm brought by the Sea Carina storm?
03:19As we can see from our track, it will remain far from our Philippine landmass
03:25that is why for the next three days, we do not expect it to have a direct effect
03:31or that it will bring heavy rainfall to any part of our country.
03:35However, we do not rule out the possibility that if it gets closer to the extreme northern zone
03:42or to the northern zone area, it is possible for it to experience heavy rainfall.
03:46That is why we urge our countrymen to continue to follow the updates
03:51that are being released by Pag-asa regarding the Sea Carina storm.
03:56Meanwhile, even if there is no direct effect today or until tomorrow,
04:01the Sea Carina and the Sea Butchoy storms will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
04:09That is why we expect that in the western section of the Luzon,
04:12it will still experience scattered rainfalls that are accompanied by thunderstorms and landslides.
04:20That is why we are still warning our countrymen about the dangers of flooding and landslides.
04:28We released our weather advisory earlier this morning at 11 AM
04:33where we expect that Kalayaan Islands will experience moderate to heavy rainfall
04:39of 50 to 100 mm of rainfall.
04:49But tomorrow, Zambales, Bataan, and Kalayaan Islands will experience moderate to heavy rainfall
04:56because of this Habagat.
04:58And when Monday comes, we will see more areas that will experience moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall
05:07because of the Southwest Monsoon.
05:08This includes Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, and Northern Palawan.
05:18Heavy rainfall is possible.
05:21That is why we are warning our countrymen about the dangers of flooding and landslides
05:28especially those who live in low-lying areas and in mountainous areas.
05:34When it comes to the strength of the wind,
05:36what do we expect will be the effect of the Sea Butchoy storm?
05:40We are not ruling out the increase of the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1
05:45at the moment because of the possible westward movement of the Sea Butchoy storm.
05:51That is why we are still following our updates on the succeeding Tropical Cyclone Bulletins.
05:56But this Southwest Monsoon or Habagat that I mentioned will be enhanced by the Sea Butchoy storm
06:04will still bring ghastly conditions or strong winds until tomorrow in Kalayaan Islands.
06:11But by Monday, more areas will be affected by Habagat.
06:16Heavy rainfall and strong winds will be felt,
06:20particularly in the Calabar Zone, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, and Metro Manila.
06:31That is why we are warning our countrymen.
06:35When it comes to our sea condition,
06:39at the moment, we are only experiencing moderate tropics.
06:45But because the Sea Butchoy storm will be stronger and will be enhanced by Habagat,
06:51we are not ruling out the possibility of increasing the gale warning,
06:55especially here in the extreme northern Luzon and the eastern section of the northern Luzon.
07:00This is possible tomorrow night.
07:03Also here in the western section of the Luzon and Visayas,
07:06we are not ruling out the possibility of increasing the gale warning because of Habagat.
07:12That is why we will continue to monitor the coastal bulletins or marine warnings issued by our agency.
