00:00And, of course, we'll get to the very latest on the PGA Tour, where we have another major
00:04in the books, and another major player winning a major.
00:07Xander Schauffele wins again a major championship victory.
00:13And basically, this is the hottest golfer right now on the PGA Tour.
00:16Yes, I said it, ahead of Scottie Scheffler.
00:19He ends up winning the Open Championship, as you can see there, by a couple of strokes
00:23over Justin Rose.
00:25And that's the final leaderboard there.
00:27So as you see, Scottie Scheffler not there, Xander winning yet again, second major of
00:31the year.
00:32So congratulations to him.
00:34And we'll see who ends up having the best year overall.
00:37That decision is going to come pretty soon as well.
00:39But needless to say, Xander, after winning yesterday, talked about winning the British
00:43Open Championship and raising the claret jug.
00:46Yeah, it's an honor.
00:49I've always dreamt of doing it.
00:53That walk up 18 truly is the coolest, with the yellow leaderboards and the fans and the
00:58standing ovation.
00:59It really is the coolest, one of the coolest feelings I've ever had in my life.
01:02I got chills walking down and quickly had to zap myself back into focus because the
01:07tournament wasn't over yet.
01:08So you know, I'm just, I can't wait to enjoy this with my family.
01:14It was hard.
01:16It was very difficult.
01:20I think winning the first one helped me a lot today on the back nine.
01:23I had some feeling of calmness come through, and it was very helpful on what has been one
01:33of the hardest back nines I've ever played in a tournament.
01:35So it's a dream come true to win two majors in one year is, you know, it took me forever
01:43just to win one and to have two now is something else.
01:46Yeah.
01:47It was a historic season for Xander Shoffa.
01:49Great job there for him.
01:50All right.
01:51Now, for those of you who have been to Las Vegas before and may have been to the Super
01:55Book out there, it's the most popular sports book in Vegas.
01:59They have been online in several states since, of course, sports betting has become legal.
02:05But those days are coming to an end, an announcement on Saturday that Super Book on their social
02:10media account said that they are closing all of their online sports books outside of Nevada.
02:16So very big news there, arguably, again, the most popular and most intense sports
02:21book with the most options in Las Vegas, no longer available in the United States.
02:28Pat Evans will give us the latest as to why they made this decision coming up in about
02:3220 minutes from now.
02:33So stay with us, because I'm curious as well.
02:35All right.
02:36Now, over in the National Football League, training camps are getting ready to open.
02:39Rookies are reporting and then full training camps are later this week.
02:42Hall of Fame game, by the way, coming up in less than two weeks.
02:44We're not going to see Jordan Love, quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, take the field at
02:48least until training camp.
02:50An announcement today by Love, he's in the building and participating in meetings, but
02:54he is not taking the field until they finalize a new contract.
02:58The extension is expected to exceed $50 million a year as Love came into his own in a very
03:04big way last year with the Green Bay Packers, leading them to a very nice season, but with
03:08no extension, no field time as of yet for Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers.
03:13All right.
03:14Speaking of no field time, no field time in the future for Ozzie Albies, the Braves with
03:19yet another injury.
03:21They've already lost so many players this year, Ronald Acuna Jr. for the season.
03:25And of course, they have lost their great pitcher, Spencer Strider, for the season.
03:31Now Ozzie Albies has a fracture in his wrist and is going to miss approximately eight weeks
03:37of time.
03:38They did sign Witt Merrifield to replace him, but Bryant Snicker last night after the game
03:45basically saying he doesn't know how many injuries they can overcome.
03:48No, it seemed to be, but I mean, it's run or hit it and that's never good.
03:59But I mean, he'll obviously go on the IL and just, you know, go through the moves and all
04:06that kind of stuff this evening.
04:09Yeah, no, it is.
04:10I mean, it gets to a point where, you know, you kind of, it's over the top here a little
04:14bit and it's just, you can't cover it.
04:16Yes, you don't know depth of cover to an extent, but after a while, it's just, it's, it's hard.
04:27Braves will have to be involved in the trade deadline, I would assume coming up next week
04:30as well.
04:31So will the Seattle Mariners.
04:32They've already made some moves that would probably spin your head at the beginning of
04:35the season.
04:36They have designated for assignment tie France once upon a time, really good hitter for them
04:41over the last couple of years, struggling big time this year.
04:45Looks like France is probably headed to a new team.
04:47We will see Seattle absolutely has to be involved in that deadline next week.
04:50Meanwhile, Jordan Alvarez hit for the cycle yesterday for the Houston Astros.
04:54So congrats to him.
04:55One o'clock Eastern.
04:56We do have baseball today.
04:57There's some wraparound games in major league baseball.
05:00One of them, Yankees and Rays.
05:01They'll begin at one o'clock Eastern today over in the national football league, a new
05:05contract extension.
05:06It is extension season.
05:08So to speak, Kenny Clark, three years, $64 million with the Packers.
05:13So they're giving out a lot of money lately.
05:14How much is left for love?
05:15We will see.
05:16Daniel Jones, of course, missed a lot of time last season with an ACL injury, had it back
05:21in November, was not fully cleared in the spring, but right now it looks like Daniel
05:27Jones will be back on the field for training camp.
05:29And the quote that he used yesterday was, yeah, should be ready to go.
05:33Jones report to Giants camp on Tuesday.
05:35First practice is Wednesday.
05:38Another free agent running back has signed Cam Akers, former high pick, of course, out
05:43of Florida state, played for the Rams and the Minnesota Vikings, has signed with the
05:47Houston Texans.
05:49Joe Mixon signed with them in the off season.
05:51Damian Pierce is also there.
05:53So clearly Akers will just try and make the team this year.
05:56Kind of a fall from grace, unfortunately for him.
05:58And by the way, still one first round pick unsigned.
06:01Would you believe this?
06:03Marius Mims is the last first round pick, finally got a contract sign, $15 million,
06:09$7.9 million signing bonus, signs that deal today with a fifth year option so he could
06:14get into camp.
06:15It was the very last one.
06:16Didn't realize that anybody was unsigned to this point.
06:18All right.
06:19Also didn't realize that a basketball player has never been the USA flag bearer at the
06:23opening ceremonies next week, this week in Paris, LeBron James was named the flag bearer.
06:29It's the first time ever that a men's basketball player is going to carry the flag for Team
06:33USA.
06:34Women's basketball player Sue Bird did it in 2020.
06:37Dawn Staley did it in 2004.
06:40Now LeBron James, of course, participating in another Olympics after winning some golds
06:45in 2008 and 2012 and a bronze in 2004.
06:49LeBron, you will see him on Friday.
06:51The ACC, their football, is having their meetings this week.
06:55So we'll learn more about this story coming up tomorrow.
06:58But as of right now, it looks like Florida State and Clemson are not leaving the Atlantic
07:04Coast Conference for another conference, which is really big news because the ACC is going
07:08to be hard to survive without them.
07:10They had to make that decision official by August the 15th.
07:13They had to make a decision by today.
07:16And so the commissioner of their conference is speaking today.
07:18We'll get more news on this for you tomorrow on the show.
07:21Contract extension in the NBA, Boston Celtics forward Sam Hauser, one of the NBA's best
07:26three-point shooters, has agreed to a four-year, $45 million contract, ESPN is reporting.
07:33He'll make $2 million in the 2024-25 season, will be under contract 28-29.
07:39And they're about $225 million in terms of their salaries this year for the Boston Celtics.
07:44So they're going to have to pay that luxury tax penalty as well.
07:49By the way, a brand new show debuting on SportsGrid today.
07:52When we are done, we've got the early line coming up at 12, but I want to invite you
07:56at 1 o'clock Eastern.
07:57It's the debut of our brand new show on SportsGrid TV.
08:00It is Kaplan & Crew, 1 o'clock Eastern on SportsGrid, hosted by Scott Kaplan, who of
08:06course has covered the NFL and everything under the sun out West for several years.
08:11So make sure you tune in at 1 o'clock Eastern today.
08:14That'll be just before Pharrell Coast to Coast, back on the air today at 3 o'clock Eastern.
