00:00President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.'s Directive, Total Pogo Ban, was supported by Aljo Omani.
00:08It is also here in the Chamber because there is a hearing today about this.
00:14We can hear the loud cry of the people against the Pogos.
00:21Disguising as legitimate entities, their operations have ventured into illicit areas furthest from gaming,
00:28such as financial scamming, money laundering, prostitution, human trafficking, kidnapping, brutal torture, even murder.
00:36The grave abuse and disrespect to our system of laws must stop.
00:40This disorder must be stopped in our society and in our country.
00:47Effective today, all Pogos are banned.
01:08This is the part of the statement of President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.
01:13which was supported by Aljo Omani in his State of the Nation Address yesterday.
01:20Total Pogo Ban, which has a directive from several branches of the government
01:25to ensure that all affected will not be neglected.
01:30I hereby instruct PAGCOR to wind down and cease the operations of Pogos by the end of the year.
01:37The DOLE, in coordination with our economic managers,
01:44shall use the time between now and then to find new jobs for our countrymen who will be displaced.
01:53According to PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tenco,
01:57they fully support the President's decision and will follow his orders.
02:03We will do everything we can.
02:06The President has spoken.
02:08He has given instructions to PAGCOR and basically to me to already maybe have a process
02:16because what the President wants is that there will be no operations by the end of the year.
02:22So by the end of 2025, we will do everything we can so that there will be no more operations of internet gaming licenses.
02:32According to the House Committee on Ways and Means Chair Joey Salceda,
02:36he is confident in PAGCOR Chairman Tenco's ability.
02:39That's why he believes that the President's orders will be followed.
02:44However, Salceda also admitted that the Total Pogo Ban has various effects,
02:49especially when it comes to the government's income.
02:52But his job is to look for alternative sources
02:56and Salceda hopes that they will have a meeting with the Department of Finance about this.
03:02According to the DILG, the President's orders were also followed, especially at the level of LGUs.
03:10At least this issue can be resolved.
03:13This can be fixed and the President has already spoken.
03:17What's important here is that we should also prepare
03:20because what we caught are all illegal, those who were left behind, those who don't have a license.
03:26This might also happen.
03:28Let's say, the President said, okay, by the end of the year, but what's important is to prepare for all of this.
03:33Other lawmakers also expressed their full support for the President's decision on the Total Pogo Ban.
03:40I am very happy and full of hope
03:44because it seems that the President is listening to what we asked for.
03:49He finally banned pogo, whether illegal or legal, stop operations by the end of the year.
03:56And we're so very hopeful and happy about that.
03:59It will now put an end to the rising criminality caused by these pogos here in the country.
04:06I expected, because, like I said, the President always listens to the people
04:14and it looks like it's the clamor of not only the Senate and Congress, but also the people of the country,
04:20that the President is taking action.
04:24Adios.
04:25We are now monitoring the hearing on the pogo here in the Camera.
04:30But we expect that this will be resolved.
04:33Even though President Marcos has already ordered the Total Pogo Ban,
04:37we expect that lawmakers will take action so that those who violate the law here in the country will be punished.
