00:48Filipinos online welcome President Ferdinand Marcos' pronouncements on banning Philippine
00:52offshore gaming operators or Pogos.
00:55Pogo ranks third on Philippine Trends on X after the President's State of the Nation
01:00Address Monday, July 22.
01:03Before the sauna, Pogos were among the issues Filipinos hoped President Marcos would address.
01:09Filipinos online attribute the President's decision on Pogo to Senator Rhys Monteveros'
01:13efforts and persistence.
01:18Monteveros led the Senate Committee probe on Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, who is linked to
01:22illegal Pogos.
01:24Some social media users also put the spotlight on senators who enabled Pogo operations in
01:29the country.
01:33At the end of Marcos' third sauna, Filipinos online say they are caught in the middle of
01:38the fractured unity between Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte.
01:45House Speaker Martin Romualdez gives marching orders to House leaders and top secretariat
01:49officials to introduce a measure to ban Philippine offshore gaming operators or Pogos in the

02:10to make it a legacy of President Marcos.
02:13Romualdez initially did not favor a total ban.
02:16The change comes after Marcos, in his third State of the Nation address, ordered the Philippine
02:21Amusement and Gaming Corporation to wind down and cease the operations of Pogos by the end
02:26of 2024.
02:27Effective today, all Pogos are banned.

02:43The anti-illegal drug campaign under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is nowhere near bloodless
02:57as he claimed during his third State of the Nation address.
03:00Independent monitoring by the DAHAS Project of the University of the Philippines' Third
03:04World Studies Center say this claim is inaccurate.
03:08There were at least 701 drug-related killings during the first two years of the Marcos administration.
03:14Out of this number, 283 or 40.4% were committed by state agents, including the Philippine
03:20National Police.
03:22The total number of drug-related killings under Marcos now stands at 712 as of July
03:277.
03:28Marcos has distanced himself from the violence that marked the administration of his predecessor
03:32Rodrigo Duterte.
03:36The U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee has sent a letter to CrowdStrike
03:40CEO George Kurtz, asking him to testify on the global tech outage last July 19.
03:46CrowdStrike's glitchy update to its security software crashed computers powered by Microsoft's
03:51Windows operating system, affecting a broad range of industries including airlines, banking,
03:57and healthcare.
03:58Microsoft said on Saturday about 8.5 million Windows devices were affected.
04:04Services across industries gradually came back online later on Friday, but companies
04:08were dealing with backlogs, delays, canceled flights, and other issues.
04:13The congressional panel wrote in its letter to Kurtz,
04:16"...we cannot ignore the magnitude of this incident, which some have claimed is the largest
04:20IT outage in history."
04:25Fundraisers and celebrities from rapper Cardi B to Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis, actor
04:30Bradley Whitford, Disney heiress Abigail Disney, and TV producer Shonda Rhimes endorsed Kamala
04:36Harris as the next Democratic nominee for U.S. President, ending a Hollywood dembargo
04:41on political donations.
04:44In Harris' first public appearance since the announcement, she rallied supporters, vowing
04:48to go after Republican nominee Donald Trump like the courtroom prosecutor she once was.
04:53In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds, predators who abused women, fraudsters
05:05who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain.
05:12So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump's type.
