00:17President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. acknowledged the Tatak-Pinoy Inventions
00:22through the awarding of Presidential Awards
00:25to the winners of the National Invention Contest and Exhibits, or NICE, by the President of the DOST.
00:33Here, the Executive Board recognized the Pinoy inventions
00:37that have great potential to help the development of the country.
00:41We are not used to, because we are not from the Philippines,
00:45that our equipment is not complete, we are looking for a remedy.
00:50The Filipinos are good at finding remedies.
00:53Even if our resources are limited, even if the situation is difficult,
01:01there is not enough electricity, there is not enough water, whatever it is, we find ways around that.
01:09And that's really distinct for me.
01:11I always say that the success of our Filipinos lies in their industry,
01:18their compassion, and their resourcefulness.
01:22Among the innovations this year are salt harvesting equipment, plastic segmented fish cage, and many more.
01:29These inventors received a prize of P100,000 to P300,000.
01:36We want them to gain the benefit from their very good work.
01:41All of these inventions here are very fine ideas.
01:47And that you have put into reality.
01:49You didn't just think about it, but you really did it.
01:53You tested it, you made a prototype.
01:55You repaired it, you fixed it, slowly, until it was perfect.
02:00And that takes a great deal of persistence, determination,
02:06and a belief in the technology that you are developing.
02:10The President hopes that not only will these inventions be heard,
02:14but that the government will continue to support these inventions.
02:20There is also a very strong motivation for the Philippine economy
02:29to have an environment that is conducive to startups.
02:37It's a difficult thing because startups generally have a failure rate that's rather high.
02:44It's the nature of startups.
02:46But one unicorn makes up for all of those others that did not make it.
02:54And that's what we have to do.
02:56NAIS supports the Republic Act 7459 or the Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines.
03:04Its purpose is to empower the inventors and inventors of the Philippines
03:08to create new products and processes that will benefit the society.
