00:00The projected cost of the new Senate building has reached 31.6 billion pesos,
00:06potentially rising to 33.07 billion pesos if furniture and land will be included.
00:12Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Chairperson of the Committee on Accounts, says
00:17the amount is unacceptable and that is why they will find ways to reduce the cost.
00:22The lawmaker assures the continuation of the construction with the target move-in date set for 2026.
00:30But the timeline of three to four years is not acceptable,
00:34and the 31.6 billion building cost or 33 billion project cost is also not acceptable to the Senate President and me.
00:47So what we're going to do also to make it faster,
00:50we're going to put up a new Senate Coordinating Committee
00:57because there are too many red tape, too many people, too many levels.
01:01But we're asking the DPWH to mirror our cost.
