00:00Plans for Windy Arbour, Coyote Ugly theme bars, Farnborough Airshow and the
00:05International Trade Awards. That's what's coming up in today's Daily Business
00:10Briefing.
00:15Hello, I'm Simon Keegan. So Alice, I've just got the September issue of Northwest
00:24Business Insider underway. I know you've been busy on the online team as well, so
00:28what's some of the stories that we can see on the website today? Yeah, well we've
00:32got some nice hospitality and leisure stories today. The first of which is
00:36about Cardiff Hospitality Company Breakin' Brands. Now they've secured some
00:41funding from Lloyds Bank to open their newest Coyote Ugly themed bar in Bristol.
00:45Coyote Ugly, that's the film? Yeah, so the bar is kind of a concept based on the
00:51film. So they have a few Coyote Ugly bars across the UK but they are
00:55behind other brands such as Jack Murphy's, Temple Bar and One-Eyed Jacks.
01:00And their plans are to roll out all of those brands across the UK, so this new
01:04site in Bristol is kind of part of that mission. Okay. Aside from the brands
01:09they already have, they do have two new concepts in the pipeline so they are
01:13one to look out for moving forward. Well Temple Bar, you can always get a good
01:16pint of Guinness there but maybe not a cheap one. No, definitely not, but is it
01:23Dublin? It's Dublin, yeah. Yeah, one of my favourite cities. Anyway, what about your
01:27other, you said you had another hospitality story? Yeah, so a little bit
01:30closer to home for you and I, 75 million pound plans for a leisure
01:35destination at Windy Harbour in Lancashire have been lodged. Now this is
01:40quite a huge development, it's going to sit within a site that spans 166 acres
01:45and that's close to the existing Windy Harbour Holiday Park. So it will have
01:49holiday lodges as well as some nice leisure facilities such as a luxury spa,
01:54a well-being centre, pool, gym, restaurant, entertainment facilities, all of those.
02:00That sounds nice, I look forward to seeing that. It sounds really nice and it
02:03looks really nice as well. We've actually been sent some really lovely CGI images
02:08so if you want to check out that article you can see what it will look like there
02:12if those plans are backed. Okay, so we'll put the link to that on the bottom of
02:16this video so if you want to follow that and see what that place is going to look
02:19like, that sounds really exciting. Well, from Windy Harbour to a windy day out,
02:26our South East editor Saptarshi Ray is braving the wind at the Farnborough Air
02:33Show where he's been visiting all kinds of business from across sectors. It's a
02:38really busy trade show down there. So Sap, over to you.
02:43Hello and welcome to Farnborough International Air Show where as usual
02:47there are hundreds of stallholders from the realms of defence, aerospace,
02:51aeronautical engineering, space research and so on as well as commercial and
02:56military aircraft of all descriptions here today.
03:01We are actually sold out for the first time in years and we're expecting record
03:05numbers through the doors. So it's been really, really good. I know it's only day
03:09two but we've already seen some really big announcements. Fifty-one billion
03:13dollars yesterday and another big announcement today for about seventeen
03:16billion. Certainly the UK has a robust aerospace industry. We want to be where
03:21our customers are so the prospects are very good that we will be doing more and
03:25more business in the UK.
03:29I've been coming for the last 12 years to this show and it's grown and grown
03:34since that time. I mean when I first came 12 years ago there wasn't even a space
03:37zone but now it's got bigger and bigger and bigger and this is the biggest it's
03:40ever been.
03:45Thank you Sap. We look forward to reading more about that online and in the
03:51South East Business Insider. So before we go I want to tell you about some events
03:58that we've got. The 42 under 42 is now open for entries. The event itself has
04:05grown. You know we're moving to the AO arena this year. It's really exciting. So
04:11the event itself is going to be on October the 8th. So if you're an
04:15entrepreneur age 42 or under in the Northwest get in touch with us. We've
04:21also got dealmakers now. The deadline for entries is now closed. I'll be doing the
04:26judging for that next week. I've got some fantastic judges. We haven't even
04:30announced the shortlist yet. You know we've sold over a thousand tickets so
04:35that's going to be a huge one in Man Central on October the 17th. And then
04:41just finally the International Trade Awards are open for entries as well. So
04:46if you're an exporter have a look at that as well. The links will be at the
04:50bottom of this video and the deadline for entries to that is August the 29th
04:56and the event itself is going to be on December the 4th. So it's a bit of an
05:01early Christmas party that one. I think Alice is that all we've got time for
05:05today? Yeah that's it for me. That's it for me as well. Thanks very much we'll see you next time.
