00:00The province of Bataan is also in a state of calamity following the storm Karina and Habaga.

00:05We will have a chance to interview Bataan PDDRMO head Arvin Katipon.

00:12Good morning sir Arvin.

00:14Hello ma'am, good morning to everyone.

00:17How is the situation here in the province of Bataan?

00:20Are there still areas that are flooded and are there still ongoing rescue operations?

00:26Right now, the rain has subsided compared to the first few days.

00:32As for the flooding, yesterday we were told that there were 36 barangays that were flooded.

00:43But this morning, according to our earliest report,

00:47there were no more barangays that were flooded and the water on the roads subsided.

00:54So if it subsided, does that mean that it is now passable for all kinds of vehicles?

01:01Yes ma'am.

01:03All of our major thoroughfares, our Roman Superhighway, are still passable starting on Monday.

01:10Only the roads on the national roads, on the inner roads, there are some that are not yet passable.

01:15But now, since there is no more flooding, all of them are passable.

01:19Ma'am, is there anything that has been reported that has been damaged or lost in Bataan?

01:25Ma'am, on July 24, we were reported missing persons, two fishermen from St. Francis de May, Bataan.

01:40These are the people who went there despite our warning and travel advisory.

01:46But the good news is that with the help of the Philippine Coast Guard,

01:53our two fishermen were rescued and they were safely returned to the province of Bataan.

02:00Sir, how many families are still in evacuation centers until this time?

02:09As of now, ma'am, our affected families who are still inside the evacuation center are 1,313 families.

02:18And for the individuals who are inside, the actual number of individuals is less than 5,000.

02:27There are 4,000 plus individuals inside the evacuation center.

02:32The families and individuals who were rescued but did not go to the evacuation center are still assigned here.

02:41But those who were identified are still in our high locations or safe locations.

02:46And as of now, do you have an initial assessment of the residents, infrastructure in Bataan?

02:56When we initiated the damage assessment, before we declared the state of calamity,

03:04we have already reported agricultural and livestock damages.

03:10It reached Php50 to Php20 million.

03:14But right now, as time goes by, the damages are increasing.

03:20Right now, the reported damage is Php15 million.

03:23The damages we reported reached Php17 million.

03:27And we are looking for ways to increase it.

03:31Especially now that we have more validation because it rained and the floods have increased.

03:38How is the state helping the affected residents?

03:43Ma'am, as early as July 23, the stockpiling of relief goods and hygiene kits were delivered to the evacuation center.

04:00Our beloved Governor, Gov. Joe Eccles, was the one who visited our evacuation centers

04:08and made sure that with the help of our PSWD in coordination with the DSWDO,

04:13the relief goods, food packs, food and non-food items that are available will be delivered immediately.

04:22I'll just follow up, sir. You said there are 1,000 families in the evacuation center.

04:26Is the supply of relief goods enough for those who are still in the evacuation center?

04:33We still have stockpiles, but we are also coordinating with the DSWDO

04:40to add relief items that we can deliver to the affected residents.
