00:04during the school holidays? Well, popular branded ice creams have reportedly left up
00:09in price since July 2022. Are you a fan of a Cornetto? Strawberry ice cream cone? Well,
00:15a pack of six have gone up by 38%. What about a Roundtree's Fruit Pasta Lolli? Well, those
00:20have gone up by 22% on average. But why is this? So the ice cream market can be quite
00:25a sticky one as last year's poor weather and a squeeze on household finances have hit
00:30the volume of ice cream units sold and therefore has impacted the prices. Now, it's been reported
00:36that shoppers are also switching to own label rather than branded ice creams. You might
00:41be wondering why food prices are rising in general. There are a few reasons for that
00:46and one of them includes the continued war in Ukraine. Prices for feed, fertilizer and
00:52fuel have all risen dramatically as a result. This paired with the continued impacts of
00:57the COVID pandemic, as well as spiralling energy and labour costs, have seen prices
01:02be significantly impacted.
