00:00Denico Autry has been suspended for six games for violating the NFL's policy on
00:06performance-enhancing drugs. He is out for six games and he had a statement he
00:14says this quickly over the course of my 10-year NFL career I have never engaged
00:19in any use of performance-enhancing drugs over that period I have been
00:23subject to countless tests none of which have I ever returned a positive result I
00:29was therefore stunned this offseason which is interesting Clint when I hear
00:35this offseason not necessarily meaning just like this just happened but stunned
00:39this offseason when I learned that one of my tests returned with a positive
00:44result I immediately investigated the matter and discovered that a pharmacy to
00:49which my doctor submitted a prescription for a different medication had whether
00:55intentionally recklessly or negligently included a banned substance I want to be
01:01clear at no time did I know or even suspect that this medication contained a
01:07banned substance so he is going to be suspended for six games he also went on
01:13to say I want to apologize to the Texans organization my teammates and the fans
01:17or any distraction that this may cause finally I want to assure our fans that
01:23my commitment to competing to the best of my ability has only grown and I look
01:29forward to return to the field that is from Daniko Autry he is not fighting
01:33this Clinton Tyler he is accepting the six-game the six-game punishment here
01:41and he will be gone for six and right off the bat this is my thought now I'll

02:23Daniko Autry well look I think it's a huge deal I mean that this you put it in
02:27huge yeah absolutely I mean you can argue that this is the most important
02:31guy on this defense in terms of them taking the next step I mean they did not
02:35address their interior defensive line the way that they had hoped to I think
02:40they tried but they didn't land the guys that they wanted to and the answer was
02:45Daniko Autry was going to play inside and outside and all we heard since free
02:50agency since they signed a Niko Autry was man he had 11 sacks last year I mean
02:54this guy this guy can play inside I'm telling you he can they're trying to
02:57convince that he can play inside this guy whether whether you believe that he
03:01was going to be the force inside on every single down not just passing downs
03:06or not regardless of how you felt about Daniko Autry and him being the answer to
03:11the issues inside for the Houston Texans he was definitely who they were
03:16going to lean into he was definitely a defensive end that is going to be asked
03:22to play in slated as they're starting defensive tackle absolutely and so any
03:26way you slice it they were depending on him in a major major way at a at a
03:30position of weakness interior defensive line and now your best player in that
03:37room is gone for six weeks now I would assume there's gonna be an appeal
03:40probably drop it down to three weeks what three games whatever I don't think
03:43this is gonna be an appeal oh you don't think so PDS it's I mean I really hit at
03:47six okay well I would damn sure appeal if it was a a prescription that was bad
03:52by a pharmacy or a doctor he's gonna bring lawyers in right either way it
03:57goes I mean if it's if it's not if it's not appealed and and and and decreased
04:03then you're looking at six but but here's the deal it's a big deal any way
04:06you slice it because you're looking at a third of the season you're gonna you're
04:11gonna miss who was your answer to the the interior defensive line woes to the
04:16defensive front this guy was supposed to be a difference maker and you're missing
04:21him you're losing him for week one versus the Colts right week two versus
04:28the Bears week three versus the Vikings week four versus the Jaguars week five
04:34versus the Bills and week six versus the Patriots you've got the Colts that
04:40are gonna come downhill not real sure what the Bears are gonna do yet but you
04:43got the Colts that are gonna come downhill at your chin and you got the
04:46Bills that are definitely gonna come downhill at your chin and I would I
04:49would imagine that the Patriots are gonna do their damnedest and the Vikings
04:52with their young quarterback with their quarterback situations to come downhill
04:55at your chin so that run defense I right now you've got to be concerned about it
05:01well and and and Clint you were gonna be concerned about it with him in
05:05absolutely and it because you know the rut the run defense at it may get
05:10better because right now Clint they are they are Foley Tim settle Mario Edwards
05:16Khalil Davis Kurt heinous like that's when you take out Danico Autry that's
05:22that's where you are in the interior at this point and like you said he's your
05:27most accomplished player although one could argue he's more of a deed than he
05:32is than he is a a defensive tackle especially in a in a 4-3 defense right
05:37but the brunt if you ask somebody with this team and said hey what what is this
05:42give me one player that's that that this performance of this this defense kind of
05:47hinges on I think they would start with Danico he's got to be he's got to be a
05:51force inside and out he's got to be depth at defensive in he's got to be he's
05:54got to be a problem versus the run in the past at defensive tackle I mean this
05:57guy's an integral part given that that's the weakness and that this guy's an
06:00integral part to them being better than they were last and see that's what I
06:03think the big hit is is not really the run although we'll see what happens it's
06:07the best thing that this defense that I would say walking into the year you'd
06:13say their full strength the best thing they do is rush the passer right like
06:18when you say hey man we we're gonna put Danico Autry on passing downs we're
06:22gonna have him over a guard or a center and we're gonna have those two Will
06:27Anderson and Daniel Hunter on the outside like we can get after the passer
06:31when you start to have those three guys on the field together and now you know
06:36for the first six weeks of the season you're gonna take that away for the
06:39first six of the six weeks of the season yeah you're going to lose the ability to
06:44have that that pass rushing type of a unit on the field which I think is the
06:50strongest thing that you would say walking into it that they do so this I
06:55it's obviously it's not like losing to the old hunter for six games or losing
07:00Will Anderson or Derek Stingley or Christian Harris even I think you could
07:04argue for six games but to the point you're making is this was a guy that
07:09they had big plans to play inside and outside and arguably the most
07:15accomplished guy they have when you talk about the guys on the inside and he
07:20and he is going going to be out the next point about and I see people in the text
07:25line wondering is do they need to make a move is it so much so that they have six
07:30games here without him do they need to make a move or are they good enough with
07:35what they have are you comfortable with the Texans rolling with Foley Tim Settle
07:41Mario Edwards Kurt Heinrich Khalil Davis on the inside or do they need to
07:45make a significant move for these first six weeks to kind of fill the void of
07:50Danico Autry I don't think it changes I don't think it changes course like I got
07:54like I as I've waited out you like the six no no hell no I wouldn't I got told
07:59you from jump you made a move no I look I think it's I think it's absolutely
08:03paramount that the Texans make them but when when these cuts take place there's
08:06gonna be some really good defensive linemen on the streets yeah and and if
08:12the Texans aren't I got I expected them to be really aggressive and not look
08:17it's not about what what I think about the guys they have in-house I mean those
08:20guys they may feel confident those guys but look at what the Texans did the
08:24Texans went out there and tried to land a couple of big fish and free agency in
08:27terms of interior defensive linemen they told Ryan they told all of us that
08:30they're they want to get better at the interior defensive line position right
08:35and so it only makes sense that when when a big chunk of defensive tackles
08:41hit the streets that the Texans are one of the more active teams it only makes
08:45sense if you are one of those defensive tackles and if you're one of the top
08:48five defensive tackles and there's gonna be some really good ones get released at
08:52cut day if you're one of the top five it only makes sense the Texans are on your
08:57short list I mean if you're a defensive tackle right now that you feel like
09:02you're a legit NFL you can play you want to be you want to be in this camp
09:05right here I mean you you want to be you don't want to be sitting behind you know
09:10all pro and Pro Bowl guys working your ass off all like like right now like
09:14like our boy Blake Fisher over here not me trust me he's getting work and he's
09:19getting work I mean he's he is both I mean I look at me just in a good way in
09:23a good way he's getting he's getting great reps but reality is is if Larry
09:27Tunsell stays healthy he ain't gonna touch the field all year long more
09:29than likely so it's it's and that's good for him right now but if you're one
09:33of these second third fourth year defensive tackles that's trying to get
09:37that opportunity to make a move I mean sitting behind a guy that's gonna play a
09:40boatload of snaps and he's an all-pro and he's gonna make off no no you come
09:44here you show up and show out I mean you you very very well could be the guy
09:49getting 50 60% of the snaps yeah text line coming in no moves needed they'll
09:54be fine is Jerry Hughes a DT or D and Jerry uses a defensive in defensive in
10:01why he's wearing sweatpants out there practice I don't know and get a sweaty
10:04even like you even Friday in full but he's he's in full rain I mean it's rain
10:10and he's soaking wet he's got he's got pants he's got pants on like not tight
10:13ones either he's got he's got the old man the old baggie the old bag the gray

10:42got his helmet off Ron and I look out there he has got a hoodie Texas kid he's
10:48got a hoodie under bro just I ain't joking I've never seen this all my
10:52sweat he's got a hoodie on under the hood on the hood on and a Gatorade towel
11:00on his head and he yanks his helmet down over it he's wearing two layers under
11:05his helmet I mean what's the what's the point he wants to get a real good I mean
11:12he is you know what he looks like he looks like those people at that YMCA
11:15that stopped me when I was doing jumping jacks in the sauna those people who ran
11:20me down yes yeah that guy you can't do exercise then you're gonna pass out
