00:00UMNO Supreme Council Member Puat Zarkasi has laughed off a Garakan leader's threat that
00:06the party could quit Perikatan Nasional.
00:09In a Facebook post, the Ringgit Assemblyman said Garakan would not dare leave PN as the
00:15former Barisan Nasional Party would not be able to find allies elsewhere, labeling it
00:20a mosquito party.
00:22Puat also claimed that Garakan and PAS, which have expressed differing views over the issue
00:27of funding for Chinese schools, were merely putting on a show and that the Islamic Party
00:31would likely maintain the status quo if it was in power.
00:37Earlier this month, PAS criticized a deputy minister for accepting a 3 million Ringgit
00:41mock check with the Tiger Beer logo at a fundraising event for a Chinese vernacular school.
00:49Leaders from DAP, MCA and Garakan defended the acceptance, citing partial funding from
00:54Putrajaya for these schools.
00:57Garakan Deputy President Othong Kiong warned that Garakan might leave PN if its coalition
01:02allies continue to display religious extremism.
01:06On the other hand, PAS' Ahmad Fadlishari said the two parties might not cooperate in the
01:11next general election if Garakan doesn't budge from its position on alcohol companies and
01:16Chinese schools.
