00:00Hot on the heels of the 2025 Ford Maverick update is this, the new Ford Maverick Lobo,
00:20which draws its inspiration directly from the lower trucks from the mid-80s to early
00:252000s.
00:26And it's dope!
00:28We already have the off-road Maverick Tremor, so why not a sporty street version, right?
00:33A low truck is the name of the game here.
00:35As compared to the standard Maverick, the Lobo rides half an inch lower in the front
00:39and 1.12 inches lower in the rear.
00:43Overall roof height is 0.8 inches lower.
00:45Plus, the body color front and rear bumpers and side skirts are all there to help visually
00:50bring down the truck, too.
00:52There is no change in output from the 2-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder, so those 238 horsepower
00:57and 277 pound-feet of torque figures stick around.
01:01There's a bunch of upgraded performance hardware, though.
01:04The Lobo gets the bigger radiator and fan from the revised-for-2025 4K tow package.
01:10It uses the steering gear from the European Ford Kuga, as well as the front calipers from
01:14the current Focus ST that Europe gets, and we don't.
01:18The brake rotors are slightly larger by 3.5 millimeters, and the upper strut mounts and
01:23steering rack bushings are from the Mustang Mach-E.
01:25The Maverick Tremor's torque-vectoring rear differential also makes its way over.
01:29Instead of the 8-speed transmission, there's a 7-speed with paddle shifters that's better
01:33suited for performance driving.
01:35There's also a Lobo drive mode that Ford says is the one for closed-course driving.
01:40It minimizes understeer while also boosts stability, grip, and cornering.
01:45You can spec your Maverick Lobo as either Standard or High.
01:49Standard gives you everything we just talked about, while High adds a bunch of technological
01:53creature comforts like driver assist, a 360-degree camera, moonroof, and, starting next year,
01:59Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
02:02Surprisingly, for the amount of truck you get anyway, Lobo prices are reasonable.
02:07The first Lobo model available will start at $42,090, and a more affordable one with
02:11a later launch date will start at $36,656.
02:16Order books for the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo open on August 1st, and deliveries are anticipated
02:22to start in early 2025.
