00:00When my dad had a brain tumor and then we didn't have money to pay rent and such, they moved here to the province.

00:28Before the pandemic, Mikey returned to the province and worked there.

00:33I decided to live here in the province.

00:36The traffic in Manila is not right and it's very chaotic.

00:42In our province, it's very safe.

00:44In 2007, Toto Madayag and her husband started working in Metro Manila.

00:50But as their son grew up, they felt the difference in life here in the province and in the province.

00:57I think there was one time, there were several times that I was out of the office at 5 p.m. but I got home around 8 or 9 p.m.

01:08And that's just for a 5-kilometer distance from your house to the office.

01:16They say buying and utilities in Metro Manila is more expensive.

01:20That's why in 2018, he built a house in the province.

01:24Everything is a lot cheaper here in the province because this is a farming community.

01:32Sometimes, we just ask for water spinach, chili, and long chili here where there are plants.

01:40The air is fresh, the houses are not clogged.

01:43According to a property consultant firm, even if someone leaves Metro Manila, many still move here to work.

01:51What we're really trying to say is that there are more investments that are going outside of Metro Manila as compared to before.

02:00The houses and land outside of the NCR are cheaper.

02:04If the 50-square-meter house outside of Metro Manila is worth Php 5 million,

02:09in the NCR, it will double or even triple.

02:13And condominiums are the same and not houses.

02:16Like Cavite, Pampanga, and Bulacan are the places that are limited to moving.

02:22The work-from-home setup during the pandemic became an opportunity for others to work outside of the NCR.

02:30People have also realized that they have other means of making money outside of the usual employment.

02:36So now, they are more comfortable investing in condos or houses outside of Metro Manila.
