00:00We really are lucky to be doing this.
00:04To do this work is a blessing.
00:06We love feeling like we're a part of something much bigger than ourselves and so that's what
00:10we're trying to do by spreading the good word, Gospels if you will, of the anti-lawn movement.
00:16Perhaps there is something really lewd and lascivious about having this mowed turf in
00:20front of your house.
00:21An idle perversion.
00:22You think it's some kind of perverted fixation that people just unquestioningly go along
00:28with?
00:29Undoubtedly, brother.
00:31Undoubtedly.
00:32This one, this is new owners right here.
00:36You really think they're ready?
00:38Yes.
00:39And remember, we must speak to them about their lawn, on their lawn.
00:44Joey and Al came to us with this idea, this radical idea that we need to completely change
00:52and tear out our lawn.
00:53In glorious concoction of many turf grasses, but maybe this is something that it's time
00:58to go.
00:59How do you feel about it?
01:01I think this is what we've been waiting for.
01:04Al, do you have anything you'd like to say?
01:09I would like to invite you to speak words of commitment.
01:14We are now true converts.
01:16I think it was really important to do what they were saying just because we do want the
01:23world now to invite the philosophy of converting your lawn into a native habitat.
01:30And so native plants will foster and nurture these living things.
01:33So that something like the lawn ruins all of it.
01:36Temper your humors, brother.
01:38Temper your humors.
01:39Calm down.
01:41So what we're going to do is we're going to put in a variety of native plants, planting
01:46beds and then we're going to use wood chips to take the place of the lawn.
01:53You ready to sign on the dotted line?
01:54Yay.
01:55Okay.
01:56As much as I love this work, I've been forced to hold back some feelings that come up at
02:00times and given the opportunity to actually remove a lawn lets those feelings come out.
02:21When we participate in our rituals, a lot of people, sometimes they're taken aback.
02:30But part of exercising our beliefs is, is what you've just seen here.
02:39I feel like it went really well.
02:43Went very well.
02:44Yeah.
02:45We feel really good about all of it.
02:46It is important to do ridiculous things.
03:00Because the brain as it ages gets so used to structure that it starts to die out.
03:07And the best way to break structure is to do something in your environment, your immediate
03:11environment that is radical and different.
03:15And what better way to do radical and different than to kill your lawn and to have something
03:20grow there.
03:21Every year our numbers grow more and more.
03:26People like us, we're going to be there.
