00:04I'm Mike Fisher reporting from Oxnard, California, home of the Cowboys training camp, where their

00:09search for a defensive end has landed them on Al-Quadeen Mohamed.

00:14Not on Carl Lawson.

00:16Not yet, anyway.

00:19The tryout for defensive ends were involved in it, and the name guy in that group, the

00:25biggest name, the most accomplished guy, is Carl Lawson.

00:27So, I totally understand why media and fans were like, what about Carl Lawson?

00:32Well, the guy that wins this workout is Mohamed.

00:37Six round pick a few years ago, he's 29 years old, 6'4", 260.

00:40Six round pick of the Saints, played for them for a little bit.

00:44Had two stints with the Colts, where he had effectiveness as a pass rusher.

00:49People in the scouting business think he can also do some things as a run stopper as well.

00:56Again, a 260 pound defensive end.

00:59He was out of football last year.

01:02He's got a couple of blemishes on his mark over the course of the years.

01:06Now, there's questions.

01:08Is he the guy because, and he's got a one year deal, was he the best guy in the tryout

01:13who was happy making veterans minimum, which is surely what this is.

01:17In other words, maybe Carl Lawson looked good in the tryout, but didn't want to settle for

01:22the kind of money that the Cowboys are throwing around in this BIU, blow it up, slash remodel

01:28circumstance.

01:30Does this signing of Mohamed preclude the Cowboys from having another one?

01:34It does not.

01:35Does the signing of a defensive end preclude the Cowboys from looking around at defensive

01:39tackle?

01:40Not that Mozzie Smith's doing anything wrong, he's not.

01:43But Linvald Joseph is a guy who Mike Zimmer has right in his phone, the former Viking

01:50two-time pro bowler who's 35 years old.

01:53I bet you Linvald Joseph doesn't want to necessarily come to a training camp at 35 years old.

01:59So since he's in Zimmer's phone, make sure you put him in your phone too.

02:03But this time around, it's Mohamed, the defensive end, who signs with the Cowboys to fill the

02:09space vacated by the season-ending injury to Sam Williams.
