00:00Let's go to Blog of the Boys here as we look at the Cowboys news.
00:18Two impending free agents the Cowboys should prioritize retaining at season's end.
00:24This is Matthew Holleran.
00:25Okay, I just wanted to salute him.
00:27Thank you for the content, sir.
00:29Brandy Cooks is number one.
00:32You have over-the-cap or spo-track estimating a one-year $5.2 million deal coming up this
00:38offseason.
00:39Obviously, he had the touchdown, and he's good at that play.
00:42He's better at that play than anybody else on the team put together.
00:46It's an interesting question at five mil, isn't it?
00:49Definitely, yes.
00:51I'd be open to it with that.
00:53You know what type of locker room character guy he is and everything.
00:57Last year, he was like the third down security blanket for Dak for a lot of that.
01:02You saw some glimpses of it the other day.
01:04Huge catch.
01:05Huge one there late in the game.
01:06Third down, he was kind of the guy that Dak liked to go to to move the chains for all
01:11the reasons you mentioned yesterday brought us, where it's just like he has a knack for
01:13getting open.
01:14Has a feel.
01:15He's got a great feel for it.
01:17At that price, sure.
01:19For a lot of these guys, none of them are going to be like, bang the table, must re-signs,
01:23you know?
01:24Yeah, no.
01:25I'm right there with you.
01:27I think at five mil, it's interesting what he might play like next year, but I feel like
01:31he's down about 30% from his peak.
01:34Is that fair?
01:35Yeah, I mean, 30 might be a little much, but definitely like 20%.
01:41He's just, he's a guy that relies on speed, and inevitably, that's just going to slowly
01:45lose itself.
01:46And he's a body catcher, you know?
01:48So it's going to be difficult for him to age well, but considering the look of this roster,
01:54you know, as you hit March 10th or whatever, that league year starts, I think you're thinking
01:59about taking a wide receiver in your first two rounds, but maybe you have those earmarks
02:03we have much more important positions to address, and Cooks gives you some stability there at
02:07the position.
02:08Yeah, and how much can you feel comfortable spending more money on a better player in
02:11free agency when you've got the most expensive receiver, second most expensive receiver in
02:16the sport already?
02:17You kind of have to be like, okay, I don't know if we can allocate too many more dollars
02:21at draft assets for sure.
02:24So Osa had five pressures with the sack.
02:27He's on pace for career highs in pressures, hurries, and sacks.
02:31Brian, tell us about Osa.
02:32Is he a must retain?
02:33Yeah, I, you know, when I look at Osa, it's, the thing that I've always noticed about his
02:39career is when we get to week 14, 15, 16, that his play drops off.
02:45And this has been the first time since, you know, he's been here where he's been able
02:50to kind of maintain throughout.
02:53Contract year, baby.
