00:00He isn't here anywhere. Where is he? Where is he?
00:11The well. He could have fallen into the well.
00:15Joseph!
00:25Did you hear him fall into the well?
00:27No, Andy!
00:30Calm down, my lady. He may be found. He can't be far. It's all right.
00:35Where is he? Where could he be?
00:44What have you done to him? Answer me!
00:48Calm down. Let's find out what's going on. What's happened?
00:51I was in the house working with Bisma and the children were playing outside in the yard.
00:58All of a sudden I heard them calling Joseph's name and I asked them why.
01:03They said he was missing.
01:06Have you looked everywhere?
01:09Yes.
01:11This is how you look after him? He was put in your trust. How could you let this happen?
01:17Enough, Leah. That is not helping any of us.
01:21Have you searched the dark corners of the houses?
01:24Yes, yes. We did.
01:27Joseph is a clever child.
01:31I think he's just hidden somewhere and nobody can find him.
01:35Let's think. Maybe he hid in a chest. Or one of the ovens.
01:51Let's go.
02:08My God! Joseph?
02:11Joseph.
02:13He'd fallen asleep.
02:15Joseph, come out, son.
02:17Hello, father.
02:18Hello, my darling. What were you doing in there?
02:22My son, you nearly killed me.
02:27Joseph, what were you doing in there?
02:31We were playing. I hid in the oven so that my brothers wouldn't be able to find me.
02:41Sister, you shouldn't have let him out of your sight.
02:45How would you feel if he'd suffocated?
02:48I made a vow to my sister to look after her children. As of now, I will not let him out of my sight.
03:18I don't think I'll be able to live without Joseph.
03:48Leah, don't hurt me this much.
03:52An old, frail woman having one foot in the grave is begging you.
03:58No. You heard me.
04:09I promised to look after Joseph better than I did before.
04:14Sister, the truth is I can't bear to be separated from Joseph. I want him here with us.
04:22Please, I'm asking for just one more chance. One simple chance.
04:28Sister, you know Joseph is no ordinary child. I can't be negligent about him.
04:36Please don't separate us from each other so quickly and without warning.
04:42Just let him stay a few more days. Give me time to adjust.
04:55I am sticking to my word.
04:57Leah, just for a few days. Do you understand? A few days.
05:12Only a few days. And I promise to return him to you personally.
05:22Let's go, my darling.
05:30Thank you, Leah.
05:35Thank you, brother.
05:37God be with you.
05:38I'll never forget your kindness.
06:08Aunty, have you slept yet?
06:38You go to sleep, son. I'm not sleepy.
07:08Are you awake, my Joseph?
07:31You didn't sleep at all last night. Every time I woke up, you were awake.
07:38The thought of you leaving my house has taken calm from my soul and sleep from my eyes.
07:46But Aunty, I love you and I don't want to leave here. I'm happy here. I don't want to return to my own house.
07:55Joseph, do you really love me?
07:58You smell like my mother, Rachel. I love Aunty Leah too, but when she is kind to me, my brothers get upset.
08:09Darling.
08:18Do you really want to stay here with me?
08:23Well, I have thought of something, a way to keep you here, but you must help me.
08:28Up you get. Get ready to go to your father.
08:39Hello, Father.
08:41Hello, my son.
08:47I have come to return what was in my trust, safe and sound.
08:51Hello, Aunty.
08:53Hello, darling. You are safe and sound.
08:56I am safe and sound.
08:58I am safe and sound.
09:00I am safe and sound.
09:02I am safe and sound.
09:04I am safe and sound.
09:05Hello, Aunty.
09:07Hello, darling. You were supposed to keep him for a few days.
09:11Joseph, welcome home, son.
09:14If one must return what is in her trust, the sooner the better.
09:23If you don't agree, I'll take him back.
09:26No, no. We're grateful you have returned him.
09:29We're also very grateful that you have looked after him for a little time.
09:36Joseph, let's go and play.
09:38Off you go, son.
09:52Goodbye, brother. Goodbye.
09:54Goodbye.
09:56Goodbye, Aunt.
10:00What's the difference between Joseph and his other brothers?
10:04Why do they value him so much?
10:07Well, it's obvious.
10:09Jacob and his sister like Joseph more than they like our children.
10:13Water.
10:26Bismarck?
10:30Yes, my lady?
10:32The belt of my father, the Prophet Isaac. Have you seen it?
10:36No.
10:38Come with me.
10:42We must inform the old Joachim and some others as well. Let's go.
10:53Dina, slow down.
10:55Judah, Levi, hurry!
11:26What's the matter?
11:30Bismarck, what is it?
11:33The Prophet Isaac's belt has gone missing.
11:37Have you looked everywhere?
11:39I have.
11:41It was the last reminder of our father.
11:44I'm very upset.
11:47I used to wrap it around Joseph's waist.
11:50Keep looking. I'm sure you'll find it.
11:52I'm sure you'll find it.
11:54We've searched everywhere and asked everybody, but there's no trace of it.
11:59When did you lose it?
12:01I'm not sure, but I think it's since Joseph returned here.
12:07Has any one of you seen the belt?
12:10Perhaps Joseph hid it somewhere before he returned here.
12:14You don't think Joseph may have taken the belt when he returned because he liked it?
12:23You mean Joseph has stolen it?
12:25Perhaps he thought it was his and that I'd given it to him.
12:29I don't think that's the case.
12:32I will search everybody and every place until I find the belt.
12:37I shall not rest until it is found.
12:39Only Joseph wore that belt.
12:42We know nothing about it.
12:44If that is so, well then I'll start with Joseph.
12:51Your permission?
12:54I cannot imagine what trick you're playing.
12:58Whatever it is, it's bothering me.
13:01Trick?
13:03This is no trick.
13:04People, I have lost my father's belt and I am trying to find it.
13:09Is that a trick?
13:11All right, all right, don't make a fuss.
13:13Search everybody.
13:26I found it!
13:28I found it!
13:30I found it!
13:32I found it!
13:35You see, I wasn't lying. There is the belt.
13:39Joseph, why?
13:41Joseph hasn't done anything.
13:44He just stole the belt.
13:47People of Canaan, you have witnessed it.
13:51We have discovered who the thief is.
13:53Oh, all right.
13:55You found your belt. Take it and go.
13:57But it's not that simple, brother.
13:59You haven't forgotten the lore of the Canaanite people, have you?
14:04According to the traditions and customs of Canaan,
14:08he who finds the thief of his belongings is entitled to keep him as a slave for four years.
14:14Wow!
14:16Joseph has to become a slave.
14:19Yes, we all know the tradition.
14:22But surely you don't wish to enslave Joseph?
14:25I wouldn't hesitate even for a moment.
14:27Unless you wish to ignore the traditions and laws of your people.
14:32Stop it!
14:34I don't believe in that ridiculous tradition.
14:36You'll not have Joseph as your slave.
14:38If the family of the prophet of God do not observe the people's tradition,
14:44what can one expect from the others?
14:47But Joseph is only a child.
14:50You cannot enslave him.
14:52There's no difference between a child and a slave.
14:54This law applies to everyone.
14:56We must respect it.
14:59I know there's a trick.
15:01But I cannot prove it.
15:04Therefore, if you don't forgive Joseph, I have to agree with your request.
15:12I've found the thief and I will not forgive him.
15:15May God in his prophet forgive me and not my people.
15:18I've found the thief and I will not forgive him.
15:21May God in his prophet forgive me and not punish me.
15:34Let's go, Joseph.
15:36As of today, you will be my slave for four years.
15:43That's what becomes of too much praise.
15:45It's what happens when you spoil a child for no reason.
15:56Children are sometimes playful, aren't they?
15:59Just not stealing.
16:10Why did you let her take him?
16:12She's incapable of looking after Joseph well.
16:15Joseph had seemingly stolen something.
16:18What can I do? I can't prove otherwise.
16:22Don't worry.
16:24He's not in a bad place.
16:43Ah.
16:53My darling.
16:55As of now, you will be the master and I'll be your maidservant.
16:59You are my brother's heir and the apple of this tribe's eye.
17:04This belt is in fact an inheritance that only you deserve.
