Northwestern parts of the country will see a wet start, due to a low pressure centre to the northwest of the country, which will be bringing outbreaks of unsettled conditions to northwestern parts of the UK. Generally cloudy and dry accross the south. Winds from the south will tend to bring warmer conditions, especially accross England and Wales. – This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 05/08/24. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Greg Dewhurst.

00:00Hello there, good morning. Welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office. A wet
00:05start to the day across Scotland, some heavy bursts of rain as we go through Monday, all
00:10thanks to an area of low pressure sapped to the north-west of the UK, driving in weather
00:14systems from the Atlantic, bringing in some humid air for the time of year as well and
00:18then slowly turning fresher through tomorrow. Heavy rain across Scotland this morning, some
00:23tricky travelling conditions through the day as this rain pushes north and eastwards. Rain
00:28also affecting parts of Northern Ireland into Northern England, perhaps North Wales
00:33too, turning increasingly heavy here later on today. But much of England and Wales generally
00:38drier and brighter. There will be some sunny spells as we go through the day today. And
00:43the winds coming in from the south ahead of this weather system, drawing in some warm
00:47air highs around 26, possibly 27 Celsius across some far eastern parts of England. A little
00:53fresher across Northern Ireland, the far north-west of Scotland behind this weather system, 17
00:59to 22 degrees. As we head through into the evening time, still some heavy pulses of rain
01:04along this weather front affecting southern parts of Scotland, Northern England, Wales,
01:09the West Country and then pushing slowly into parts of the Midlands, central southern England
01:13as we head into the early hours. Generally staying dry across south-east England through
01:18the night here and with the muggy air temperatures here, 16, 17 Celsius as a minimum. And then
01:25fresher air starting to move into Northern Ireland, western Scotland, 12 or 13 degrees.
01:30But a bright start here with sunny spells, showers slowly pushing in from the Atlantic
01:34as we go through the day. This weather system slowly pushing south-eastwards across England
01:39and still affecting parts of Shetland at times too. It just may become slow moving across
01:44south-east England, some heavy bursts possible for east Anglia down into Kent for later on
01:49in the afternoon. But many places behind this becoming dry and brighter, just one or two
01:53showers. But fresher air moving in from the west, temperatures down 18 to 22 Celsius for
01:59many but still muggy across the south-east here. Highs around 24 or 25 Celsius possible.
02:06Into the middle and towards the end of the week, well it continues to remain rather mixed.
02:12There will be further rain at times, particularly across the north and the west of the UK. Best
02:16of the dry weather will be towards south-east England and temperatures generally around
02:20average for the time of year.
