00:00I just couldn't tell what was under there.
00:02He was pretty disgruntled when he had come in.
00:04He came in as a stray in quite a state
00:07and probably felt pretty terrible.
00:10But he was pretty motivated by some hot dogs and cheese.
00:22If he was a stray and out in the streets,
00:24then rain or any kind of water that hits the coat,
00:28it just clumps up and it becomes a big old pelting gap.
00:43So we kind of set him down on the floor and he came to each of us
00:46and wagged what he could of his tail because it was so heavy.
00:50And we just knew that was it.
00:52That was the dog we had to help.
00:56He very much smelled like a barnyard.
00:58When we put him in the back of our vehicle.
01:06We really just wanted to give him a moment to decompress.
01:21My initial reaction was, this is bad.
01:25I put him on the table and he was like, all right, let's do it.
01:29I think he instantly knew where he was at.
01:31I'm trying to do reverse.
01:33Yeah.
01:46I had to use a surgical blade to try to get into the bottom of these mats.
01:54I even had to create tunnels for me to like,
01:57safely just clip right through it so that I can just free that big old clump.
02:04Mario would be there tunneling and tunneling millimeter by millimeter
02:09and he would get through these small pieces.
02:12It was like you saw the light.
02:17I think he really leaned into it and accepted the help that we were giving him.

03:39Because of that whole kind of headdress,
03:41you couldn't tell where his tiny little ears stopped and where the fur continued to go.

04:14The more and more that came off, you could tell he was feeling better and better.

04:27It was pretty miraculous.
04:28As soon as those top layers came off, we were like, oh my god, this is a puppy.
04:33He's like so much better.
04:35This is a tiny little skinny dog.
04:43And I think once we realized that Panda was young and from what we could tell healthy,
04:49it was just kind of unwrapping the gift.
04:54He really turned out to be such an incredible little dog.
05:01And so cute and so friendly.
05:05I was so excited.
05:09So excited that he now is a dog.
05:19I was scrolling through Instagram and I see Panda looking like a little matted lump getting groomed.
05:29I know it sounds crazy, but I just want to meet him.
05:40The one main thing going through my head was, I hope he likes me.
05:49He just started to play with us.
06:19Yes, you are.
06:33We were just like, yeah, this is a good fit.
06:50Once he got a soft bed and blanket, I think it was then he realized these are my people.

07:06He's already got two car seats and a stroller.
07:09He loves his Target runs.
07:17He loves his Starbucks runs.
07:23Every time I grab my purse, he's like, where are we going?
07:27It's just people and puppy watch.
07:31Oh, that tail.
07:33It just feels really good.
07:35Being able to give him a warm, happy home, a bed, a blanket, us to snuggle with.
07:47And it's just going to get better from here.
