00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Overnight we watch as more cloud arrives across Northern Ireland as well as Scotland with some
00:09outbreaks of rain. Most of the rain will be particularly across the western side of Scotland.
00:14Elsewhere, some clearer skies into Wednesday, a little sunshine but the chance of some showers,
00:20frequent showers though, across the north as the winds pick up some strength. You can see low
00:24pressure sits towards the northwest of the UK. High pressure just influencing our weather
00:29further south as well. So let's take a look at the detail as we head through Tuesday evening.
00:35Still a lot of showers in the mix across Scotland, clipping Northern Ireland and they could be heavy
00:39as they move towards the far north as we head through the night. Clearer skies across England
00:44and Wales although along western coasts still the chance of one or two fleeting showers as the cloud
00:50thickens across western Scotland, Northern Ireland as well. You can see this rain just moving in
00:56into Wednesday morning. It's not going to be as muggy as last night, even so temperatures holding
01:01up 12 to 14 Celsius as we enter the day on Wednesday. And first thing, it will be bright
01:07across eastern Scotland, England and Wales. A little rain for Northern Ireland but more
01:12persistent rain across northern and western Scotland and a stronger wind here. It extends
01:17across towards the north as we head through Wednesday morning and showers will follow. Few
01:23showers running in across Wales, northwest England. The cloud will come and go through the day. It could
01:28increase through the afternoon but even so some fine weather across central and eastern areas
01:34and again the chance of those showers which will be heavy in the north with the risk of thunder.
01:39So certainly the weather remains fairly mobile and changeable but certainly some sunshine as we
01:44head through the afternoon as temperatures rise slowly to around 20 to 23 Celsius down towards
01:51more central and eastern areas but fresh towards the northwest 15 to 17, 19 for Northern Ireland.
01:59So through Wednesday evening and overnight those showers will continue across more northern and
02:04western areas. You can see here still a squeeze on the isobars but then on Thursday this feature
02:10comes in and this will introduce more cloud and outbreaks rain to most parts of the country
02:15and in fact it remains breezy if not windy into Friday with further showers but some brighter
02:20skies emerging as well so an improving picture through the day for the latter part of the working
02:26week. So through Wednesday evening still a mix of clouds and clear skies across much of the country.
02:32Those showers continue across more northern and western areas but we've lost the potency of them
02:37and then through the night into Thursday the cloud slowly thickens from the west you can see
02:42this rain waiting in the wings into Thursday morning. However Thursday will dawn bright
02:48across many areas still a few showers towards more northern and western areas and then thickening
02:52cloud brings outbreaks of rain through the day. We hang on to some drier weather towards the southeast
02:5720 degrees Celsius here 19 or 20 elsewhere. A brighter day around although it will be breezy
03:03if not windy on Friday and still some showers particularly across more northern and western
03:08areas. I'll see you later.
