00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Still a shower mix through the next 24 hours and some of these will be heavy through this
00:09evening with the risk of thunder.
00:12Skies will slowly clear across the far north of Scotland extending down towards more southern
00:16areas overnight and any patchy rain across the eastern side of Scotland will tend to
00:21fade away, whereas further west you can see these showers moving in on a northerly wind.
00:26Across England and Wales more clouds so temperatures holding up but still some showers just lurking
00:31out there but some drier skies coming through as well.
00:35However, in rural spots across central and southern Scotland, the far north of England,
00:39you may find a touch of grass frost as you wake up on Wednesday morning so a chilly start
00:45to the day here, at least though there will be some sunshine.
00:49Eastern Scotland seeing more cloud through the morning, some showers here, showers moving
00:52in and continuing across Northern Ireland, clipping the western side of Scotland.
00:57Now a mix of cloud and sun across England and Wales, particularly for the Midlands eastwards
01:02and here those showers will come and go.
01:04Elsewhere, showers will develop through the day in situ that could turn heavy with the
01:09risk of thunder but some sunshine either side as well.
01:13So through the afternoon you can see where some heavy ones will crop up.
01:17Eastern counties, southern parts of England, central and southern areas of Scotland, northern
01:21England, one or two scattered ones here but some dry weather coming in across the far
01:25north of Northern Ireland to end the day and brighter weather also for the northwest of
01:29Scotland.
01:30Now the wind does have a northerly component to it so temperatures struggling a little
01:35bit, 15 or 16 Celsius for Scotland, Northern Ireland, 17 or 18 for Wales, down towards
01:39the southeast 20 or 21 Celsius.
01:42Now that's the picture on Wednesday afternoon.
01:45We do have low pressure influencing our weather at the moment, it's an old low and weather
01:49front just drifting across the sky but notice this, towards the west and the Atlantic this
01:54area of high pressure will extend up towards the north as well as the west bringing some
01:59settled conditions.
02:00At the same time, the risk of some heavy and thundery downpours arrive across more southern
02:04areas and with an easterly wind through Thursday into Friday we could see more clouds just
02:10lapping along the shoreline of the east coast of Scotland as well as England but it is warming
02:14up across many areas.
02:16So let's pick up on the detail then through Thursday.
02:19Now there's a weather warning across the southeast of England including East Anglia as we head
02:24through Wednesday night from 2100 to Thursday morning.
02:29We can see these filaments developing and turning heavy here so some downpours which
02:34could turn heavy and thundery through the night.
02:37Elsewhere, more clouds along the eastern side with an onshore breeze, further west some
02:42clearer skies, a bit of a cool start to the day come Thursday morning but it will be dry
02:47and bright through the day with some sunshine.
02:49But notice this rain sort of pushes up towards the southeast Midlands, East Anglia and it
02:54extends towards the southeast of Wales before tending to fade away.
02:58But there's still the chance of some heavy showers through the afternoon on Thursday.
03:02Temperatures 21 degrees Celsius here, brighter further north and northwest in particular.
03:07Temperatures up a notch on Wednesday.
03:09Now here's your outlook through Thursday.
03:11Most places seeing some fine conditions, perhaps one or two showers across the far south.
03:16We could see more clouds along the east coast but further west across Scotland, temperatures
03:20will be into the 20s with some sunshine.
03:22I'll see you later.
