Met Office Evening Weather Forecast 31/08/24 – Cloudy for most and scattered showers
Increased cloud cover in England and Wales moving northwards bringing some scattered showers, which may be heavy in some areas. Thunder is probable also across the far south and south east later in the night. North of Scotland and Northern Ireland will remain relatively clear with cooler temperatures expected. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 31/08/24. 00:00Hello, here's your latest weather update from the Met Office, I'm Marco Britannia.
00:03The weather is starting to turn more unsettled across the UK now from the south. We're starting
00:07to see cloud increasing, especially across central and southern parts of England as we
00:10head through the evening, that cloud reaching parts of Wales and the north of England into
00:14the early hours of Sunday. Notice too a few showers breaking out into the early hours
00:17of Sunday, those turning locally heavy, potentially even thundery across the far south and south-east
00:22by Sunday morning itself. Whereas towards the north-west across much of Scotland and
00:26Northern Ireland, we hold on to some clear spells. One or two mist and fog patches forming
00:29a bit of patchy low cloud too by Sunday morning, and also turning a little bit chilly in several
00:33spots here by Sunday morning itself, because the temperature is down to mid to upper single
00:38figures. So I'd say for the time of year that is quite chilly. Whereas towards the south
00:41it's much milder, in fact quite warm and humid, with temperatures here holding up in the mid
00:45to upper teens Celsius. As for Sunday itself, with the showers across the far south, we'll
00:50start to develop elsewhere across parts of England, potentially eastern parts of Wales
00:54too as we go through the day. Initially across the far south, but developing across the Midlands,
00:58eastern parts of Wales, into the north of England as well as we go into the afternoon.
01:02Some of those showers are certainly heavy, as they could be thundery in nature, giving
01:05some flooding issues in places too. Towards the north and west of that, across much of
01:10Scotland and Northern Ireland, and the far west of England, here we'll see some bright
01:13spells at times, one or two lighter showers. And I think the far south-east after a showy
01:17start should start to see some sunshine breaking through too. Temperatures in the south-east
01:21are really shooting up into the low to mid, even locally upper twenties Celsius. Twenty-seven
01:26in London is eighty-one in Fahrenheit, and feeling quite humid here I think through the
01:30day. A little bit fresher towards the north and west, with temperatures here in the upper
01:33teens, locally low twenties Celsius across some western spots. As we head into the evening
01:38and through the overnight period on Sunday, the showers across England and eastern parts
01:42of Wales will migrate their way northwards, eventually reaching eastern parts of Scotland
01:46into the early hours of Monday. Whereas out towards the west and south-west, a band of
01:50more persistent showy rain working across Northern Ireland, parts of Wales and the south-west
01:54of England. So it's the central slice there of the UK, holding on to some of the clearest
01:58spells there as we go into the early hours of Monday. Wherever you are, it's a pretty
02:01warm and quite humid night to come on Sunday night. Temperatures generally into the low
02:05to mid-teens, even upper teens towards the south-east, so quite uncomfortable for sleeping
02:09in places. Monday, unfortunately, will be a very unsettled day across the UK. Low pressure
02:14in charge, thundery showers out towards the east and north-east, giving way to this band
02:18of more persistent rain from the west. Again, some of the rain could be quite heavy in nature.
02:22Another humid fill across many areas, but starting to feel fresher out across parts
02:26of Northern Ireland and the far west of the UK as brighter skies move in later. Out towards
02:31the west, temperatures no better than 18 or 19 Celsius, which isn't too far from where
02:34they should be for the time of year. We still hold on to some warm conditions there across
02:38the east and south-east, with temperatures here 24 or 25 Celsius. 25 there in Norwich
02:43is 77 in Fahrenheit. That's pretty much it for me, but of course you can keep tuned to
