00:00Could it be a record-setting day in Oakland?
00:03Yesterday, it was.
00:05The White Sox making history for all of the wrong reasons,
00:09losing 21 straight games to the A's in their series opener.
00:145-1 was the final.
00:15That matches the longest losing skid in the history of the American League,
00:20tying the Baltimore Orioles back in 1988,
00:23who started that season 0-21.
00:26Could the White Sox drop 22 straight?
00:29Today against the A's, the Athletics nearly a $2 favorite to do it once again.
00:34Joe Friese, well done, feeling 22.
00:37That is a good headline.
00:388.5 is the total for today's game by the Bay.
00:4222 straight losses, DRS.
00:45Is it going to happen tonight?
00:47Feeling 22, about to fall into a blank space right now with another loss.
00:51Could be amazing out there on the West Coast.
00:53I wonder how many people are going to show up for this game here.
00:55But let's just talk about the optics of it.
00:57The Oakland Athletics with Ross Stripling on the mound,
00:59they're close to a $2 price.
01:01That is absolutely outrageous.
01:03But what gives you any hope?
01:04Like, we started this by having the recap yesterday
01:06for what happened between Oakland and Chicago.
01:09And forget about the game itself.
01:10You just look at that roster 1-9 and go, can anybody get base hits?
01:13And it's the same thing once again today
01:15because if you're lining up the Chicago White Sox team against Stripling,
01:18who's not a great pitcher,
01:19but actually does have some decent statistics
01:21with iso power number weighted on base percentage.
01:24But just look at this lineup here.
01:25Vargas, Baldwin, Robert, Sheets, Vaughn, Sosa, Fletcher,
01:30all below the Mendoza line for iso power numbers.
01:32So if you have seven dead bats in the lineup
01:35and just two decent ones,
01:36and those two decent ones are Ben Attendee and Corey Lee,
01:39which we told you are hitting around 150 apiece,
01:42it feels like for both of them.
01:43I don't give too many high hopes.
01:45But also now you're taking a look here.
01:46Like, forget about the X's and O's on the field
01:48and who actually has the better statistics.
01:50You have one side that really doesn't want to lose 22 straight games.
01:54Why? Because it's embarrassing
01:55and you're setting yourself up for historic numbers
01:58in the wrong direction.
01:59But also if you're Oakland,
02:01man, you guys just lost to a team that lost 21 straight.
02:03That's terrible.
02:04So it's almost like you have like the competing sides,
02:06like we don't want to be embarrassed
02:08and the other side doesn't want to be embarrassed at the same time.
02:10But I don't know who's betting on the White Sox.
02:12That is a dead team walking in a dead environment in Oakland.
02:16They'll probably get blistered again today.
