A devastating fire has wiped out part of the historic Fairbridge Farm. Emergency services were called to the property on August 7, 2024 with flames bellowing out of Gloucester House. All that remains is a pile of smoking rubble

00:00It was built in 1951. It was known as Gloucester House and it was a home where a lot of the
00:26children came when they left Fairbridge and as a lot of them went on properties and then
00:31when they had holidays or were out of work they used to come back here or they brought
00:37their families up for a holiday. So it was more for the aftercare of the children, adults
00:44at that stage. It operated until it closed in the late 60s.
