00:04It was a hot, sunny day on the island of Sodor.
00:09All the engines chuffed cheerfully.
00:12Whiff and Scruff scrunched garbage in the garbage dump,
00:17and Thomas and Stanley biffed and bashed freight cars.
00:24Later, Thomas puffed into Brendam Docks.
00:28Sir Topham Hatt was there.
00:31Good morning, sir.
00:33It is a good morning, and a busy one.
00:37Whiff has to take these very heavy garbage cars to the garbage dump as quickly as possible.
00:43He will need help. You, Thomas, must be Whiff's back engine.
00:49Thomas was happy to help his friend Whiff.
00:52Of course, sir.
00:55Then, Diesel oiled over.
00:59Pulling those cars will make you a really stinky engine, not a really useful one.
01:05Phooey, you're a stinky engine already.
01:10And Diesel flattered away, chuckling.
01:13Thomas huffed.
01:15Diesel's the silly, stinky engine.
01:17Whiff, are you ready to roll?

01:22And the two friends heaved and hauled happily away.
01:27At Marin Station, Whiff and Thomas had to wait for a signal.
01:33Thomas was surprised to see the Duchess of Boxford waiting.
01:37She looked upset.

01:42Good morning, Thomas.
01:44I was hoping to have tea with Lady Hatt,
01:47but Spencer is far too busy with the Duke of Boxford.
01:51And now I won't be able to go.

02:46And slowly the two engines clickety-clack along the track to a junction.
02:52One track led to a branch line.
02:55Suddenly, an idea flew into Thomas' funnel.
02:59I could puff along the branch line and join Whiff at the next junction.
03:04Then I won't be with this smelly garbage for so long,
03:08and I won't be a really stinky engine when I take the Duchess to tea with Lady Hatt.
03:14Thomas was pleased with his idea.
03:17So, as Whiff puffed on alone along the main line,
03:21Thomas chuffed away onto the branch line.
03:26Thomas raced past a meadow of sweet-smelling flowers.
03:30This made him especially pleased.
03:33Hooray! Now I'll smell sweet.
03:37The Duchess will be happy when I take her to tea with Lady Hatt.
03:42At a junction, Thomas buffered up to Whiff again.
03:47Whiff was puffing slowly. The train was heavy.
03:51Puff your hardest, Whiff!
03:53Puffing hard, Thomas!
03:56Gordon wheezed by grandly.
03:59Thundering tracks! Your stinky, smelly engines!
04:06Thomas gasped.
04:08Fizzling fireboxes! Now Gordon thinks I'm smelly.
04:13I must find another track to leave this stinky garbage train.
04:20At the next junction, the left track went by the sea.
04:24I'll take the track by the sea. Then I won't be so smelly.
04:29So, once again, Thomas left Whiff to steam on alone with the heavy garbage train.
04:37And Thomas huffed happily along the track by the sea.
04:42Hooray! I'm not a stinky, smelly engine anymore.
04:46The Duchess will be pleased.
04:51At the next junction, Thomas buffered up to Whiff once more.
04:55Whiff was tired and puffing slowly.
04:59The garbage train was very heavy.
05:02Whiff didn't know that Thomas had been away.
05:05Emily whooshed by.
05:07Yowee, Thomas! You're a stinky engine!
05:12Thomas gasped.
05:14Trembling tracks! I mustn't be a stinky engine for the Duchess.
05:19Thomas was even more worried.
05:23At the next junction, the right track went past the bakery.
05:28Thomas made a decision.
05:30I will puff past the bakery.
05:32Then I won't be a stinky engine,
05:34and the Duchess will still want me to take her to tea with Lady Hat.
05:41Thomas chuffed cheerfully along.
05:46Now I smell sweet again.
05:48But I mustn't be late for the Duchess.
05:50I'll have to huff my hardest to get to Wellsworth Station on time.
05:54But Thomas was late for the Duchess.
05:57He whooshed like the wind into Wellsworth Station.
06:01Whiff was there. Whiff was too tired to puff on.
06:05Thomas didn't see Whiff until it was too late.
06:09Cinders and ashes!
06:11He crashed and he bashed straight into the back of Whiff's garbage train.
06:17The garbage cars collided.
06:20On the back of Whiff's garbage train,
06:23the garbage cars clattered and battered right off the rails.
06:27Stinky garbage and oily old engine parts toppled and tumbled over the tracks.
06:34Luckily, no one was hurt.
06:37The Duchess gasped in surprise.
06:40Oh, my! Are you all right, Thomas?
06:43Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, ma'am.
06:46I've been a very silly engine.
06:49I thought I needed to smell sweet to take you to tea with Lady Hat.
06:53If I'd been really useful instead,
06:55I wouldn't have biffed into the garbage train and I wouldn't have made you late.
07:00Then an idea flew into Thomas' funnel.
07:04Ma'am, Whiff's a really useful engine.
07:07Can he take you to meet Lady Hat while I fetch Rocky to help me clean up this garbage?

08:01The train was heavy and very, very smelly.
08:04Diesel oiled alongside Thomas.
08:08Phooey! You're the stinkiest steamy I've ever smelled!

08:15I may be stinky, but I'm being really useful.

08:23On the way back from the waste dump,
08:26Thomas saw Whiff, the Duchess and Lady Hat.
