00:00The U.N. Congress for the Employment of Malaysian Workers said that the main factor of the workers in this country is unhappiness

00:08due to the low average salary and high cost of living.

00:12President Muhammad Effendi Abdul Ghani said that the minimum salary is low,

00:16about $1.07 per hour, not enough to meet basic needs

00:22such as housing, food and health care,

00:25resulting in a large financial pressure that affects the happiness and well-being of the workers.

00:31He said that the unbalanced salary distribution caused low-wage and mid-wage workers to feel unappreciated

00:39and excluded, while executives and professionals received higher salaries.

00:44He said that the cost of living is high in big cities such as Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru,

00:50where house prices, rents and basic necessities have increased year-on-year

00:55and not in line with the increase in salaries.

00:57Effendi said that his party believes that immediate steps such as increasing annual leave,

01:02reducing workload and providing support for the health of the workers

01:06need to be taken to improve the welfare of workers in Malaysia,

01:10while allowing the country to get out of the second worst situation in the world

01:15in terms of living and working balance.
