00:00Thomas and the toy shop. It was a bright crisp winter's day on the island of Sodor.
00:09All the engines were hard at work carrying passengers and freight.
00:14Thomas was very excited. He had a special job to do.
00:20The toy shop was to have a grand opening for the winter holiday season.
00:28The workers at the toy factory had worked hard to make lots and lots of toys in time for the grand opening.
00:37Thomas' job was to take the toys from the factory to the toy shop.
00:45It was hard work, but Thomas was enjoying it.
00:49He felt really useful doing something so important.
00:54And he was looking forward to seeing the children's happy faces.
01:01On the day of the grand opening, the Fat Controller came to Tidmouth Sheds.
01:05A new machine for the toy factory has arrived, he said.
01:10Henry, I want you to pick it up from Brendam Docks and take it to the factory as soon as possible.
01:17And while you are there, he added, you can take the last load of toys from the factory to the toy shop.
01:25Thomas was disappointed. He thought that was his job.
01:30Maybe he could pick the children up after school and take them to the grand opening.
01:35But the Fat Controller gave that job to Emily.
01:39You are to do other jobs today, he told Thomas.
01:44Thomas hurried off to start his new jobs.
01:48But he was very sad not to be helping with the grand opening.
01:54The signal at the next station was red. Thomas stopped.
01:59The station master was waiting for him with a message. It was from the Fat Controller.
02:04Emily has broken down, said the station master.
02:08You must get all your jobs done as quickly as possible.
02:12Then you are to collect the children after school and take them to the toy shop.
02:18Thomas was sad for Emily but excited to take the children.
02:22He puffed away quickly. There was a lot to do.
02:26Thomas was happy to be helping with the grand opening after all.
02:31He almost burst his boiler as he puffed around the island.
02:36At last Thomas finished his jobs.
02:40He picked up Annie and Clarabel and steamed off to collect the children.
02:47Thomas puffed through the docks. He was surprised to see Henry was still there.
02:54Then Thomas saw that Henry was trapped by a large crate.
02:59What happened Cranky? asked Thomas.
03:03That crate slipped off my hook, snapped Cranky crankily.
03:07Thomas was worried. Henry still had to collect the last load of toys from the factory for the toy shop.
03:14What if the toys arrive late for the grand opening? wished Thomas.
03:19The children will be very disappointed.
03:22I'll go as soon as the line's clear, huffed Henry.
03:26I know, puffed Thomas excitedly.
03:29I can collect the toys from the factory, then I'll pick up the children.
03:34You won't be able to pull all the trucks of toys as well as Annie and Clarabel, said Henry.
03:40Don't worry, Thomas whistled. I can do it.
03:44And he puffed quickly away.
03:50There was very little time left before the grand opening.
03:54Got to hurry, got to hurry, puffed Thomas.
03:58Doing our best, doing our best, chanted Annie and Clarabel.
04:03At last Thomas reached the toy factory.
04:07He was coupled up to a long train of trucks and he set off for the toy shop.
04:16Thomas had been working hard all day and he wasn't used to pulling such a heavy load.
04:22It's very hard work, he puffed.
04:26You can do it, you can do it, sang Annie and Clarabel.
04:32Soon Thomas was steaming up Gordon's Hill.
04:36Must get to the top, must get to the top, he huffed.
04:40But he went slower and slower and slower.
04:47Until eventually he stopped altogether.
04:53I have to go on, wheezed Thomas.
04:56But he wasn't strong enough.
04:59The train started to pull Thomas backwards down the hill.
05:03He applied his brakes but it didn't help.
05:07He slid all the way to the bottom.
05:12Thomas was very upset.
05:14I've let everyone down, he puffed sadly, especially the children.
05:20Just then he heard another engine coming.
05:23It was Henry.
05:25The workmen had cleared the line at the docks.
05:29What's the matter, Thomas? Henry asked.
05:33Thomas told him.
05:35You were right, Henry, he said unhappily.
05:38This load was too heavy for me. I should have listened to you.
05:43And now I know I need your help.
05:46What can I do? chuffed Henry.
05:49You take the trucks to the toy shop, whistled Thomas.
05:52And I'll pick up the children, but we must hurry.
05:58Henry chuffed as fast as he could to the toy shop.
06:05Thomas puffed around the island as fast as he could.
06:09The children cheered when they saw him coming.
06:13You won't be late, he whistled as he steamed from station to station.
06:19And they weren't.
06:21Thomas arrived just in time for the grand opening.
06:26It was a magical sight.
06:29There were coloured lights, balloons and lots and lots of toys.
06:35The Fat Controller declared the toy shop open for the winter holiday season.
06:40Everybody cheered.
06:43Thomas was so pleased to see the children's happy faces.
06:47You were right, Henry, Thomas tooted.
06:50In future I shall leave pulling the heavy trucks to you.
