Rain does not stop Colombian parade celebrating art of floristry

Colombian floristry artisans, known as 'silleteros', carried heavy flower arrangements on their backs to wow the attendees of the 2024 edition of the Silleteros Parade in a display of colour and tradition on Sunday (August 11) in Medellin.

00:21their place until the clouds cleared to open the way for artisans and their beautiful flower
00:26arrangements.
00:28The festival parade puts on display cilateros, or flower arrangements, on large wooden frames
00:34that can weigh more than 100 kilograms.
00:37The winner for the second consecutive year in the Emblematica category was Maria Carolina
00:42Atehortua.
00:44More than 500 artisans, including adults, children and juveniles, took part in the festival.
00:51The parade is part of a tradition which dates to 1957 and has become a highlight on Colombia's
00:57cultural calendar, with florists from all over the Medellin area creating colorful arrangements
01:03which are carried through the streets on their backs in a parade.
