00:00The Agriculture Department assured that there will be no problem in the supply of pork.
00:04Now, the African Swine Fever is a problem in some provinces.
00:07The DA also raised Php 150 million in the fund for financial assistance to the affected hog raisers.
00:14Tina Panganiban Perez has the first news.
00:20Despite the spread of African Swine Fever in some provinces
00:24and the death of thousands of pigs,
00:27there is no visible problem in the supply of pork
00:30is the secret of the Department of Agriculture.
00:33This is the concern of the Aga Party List,
00:36especially in the urban areas where there is a lot of preparation.
00:39I haven't seen any perceived shortage.
00:43It's farm-based lockdown now,
00:45not the whole municipality or the whole province.
00:48So there will still be a movement.
00:51Laurel also said that there is no reason for the price of pork and processed meat to rise.
01:12The DA raised Php 150 million for financial assistance to the affected hog raisers.
01:20Php 4,000 will be paid for each pig or small pig,
01:24Php 8,000 for the medium-sized,
01:27and Php 12,000 for the large.
01:29The DA said that the payment has been raised
01:32so that the affected pigs will not be exploited.
01:35The DA expects that next week,
01:38the first batch of 10,000 doses of the vaccine against ASF will be distributed.
01:44Php 350 million was raised for the 600,000 doses
01:49that the DA will give free to the affected ASF.
01:54The Aga Party List said that this is not enough
01:57because the backyard hog raisers are the ones who are taking care of the pigs for Php 6 million.
02:03The backyard raisers cannot afford Php 600 per pig.
02:10If we will give free to the backyard raisers,
02:14we will need Php 3.6 billion to buy the vaccine.
