00:00There have been a lot of emotions today from the morning like before the match and all day I mean
00:11it's like an important and big day for me but I just wanted to be proud of myself with everything
00:18that I could do today. I think I did my best and I mean at least I can go to sleep knowing that I
00:24did that and that I'm proud of myself and yeah I just did everything I could and I didn't get
00:29the win today but at the end of the day that's all that matters to me. On court when you were
00:34giving your speech post-match you did something that we don't see a lot from tennis players and
00:38you took a moment to sort of acknowledge what you've done this week and say that you were
00:42proud of yourself and I thought that was really kind of original and nice to see.
00:46Why do you think we don't hear that more often from players and can you elaborate a little bit
00:50on on those feelings? Yeah I don't know I actually thought about that like I don't think anyone ever
00:58says that about themselves and I think that's important obviously you know the support of
01:05everyone around you is so important but I think the most important thing is the support that you
01:10give to yourself as well and it's not easy I mean for every single person it's not easy being like
01:16your own best friend you know so I think we all struggle with that a little bit and it's something
01:22that I've worked a lot on is you know trying to be less critical of myself and to try like to try
01:29and just provide myself with as much support as I can because at the end of the day that's only
01:34going to help me and yeah I think that that's something that has really pushed me into the
01:41right direction and has helped me even just this week alone and yeah I just I wanted to say that
01:48and maybe spread the message to other people that you know you can be proud of yourself
01:53and to just you know push through challenges or whatever it is and at the end of the day
02:00you know it's it's only you at the end of the day and you only have yourself so I think that's
02:04really important and hopefully you know a lot of players can you know kind of think about that
02:10because it's not easy playing an individual sport you know dealing with losses is not easy so
02:16hopefully that can send the right message.
02:18Considering where you were a year ago and where you are today can you say like what
02:22what did you show yourself what do you show the tennis world this week?
02:27Yeah I mean I took the break last year I stepped away from the sport and probably not a lot of
02:34people knew you know how I would come back or the results I'd be having I didn't either I mean it was
02:42nobody could predict that but you know I put the work in and I kept my head down and I tried to
02:49come back to the sport with more of a relaxed feeling you know trying to enjoy each day as
02:55it comes and not being so serious about everything because I think that takes away the joy from a lot
03:00of things so I think with that kind of you know approach to my everyday life I think that's helped
03:07me a lot and yeah I mean life is short so I just want to enjoy each day no matter how difficult
03:14this career and job can be because at the end of the day it's not going to be very long you know
03:21if I play for six more years it's you know it's not that long so I want to try and just
03:27enjoy it as much as I can and yeah I think that also feeds into a lot of success because if you're
03:35not happy I don't think that you're ever going to really do a good job or at least it's not going
03:41to be sustainable.
